John Cafferty
You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

John was once considered the poor man's Bruce, but I'm a fan of both. They both had great asses back in the day

The funny thing is that John And Bruce are nothing alike at all, except they both came from the same decade. The comparison i never really got because if anything Job Bon Jovi was more like Bruce mainly for the "anthems" and being from the same town and having that jersey pride. John to me is more like Dylan and Woody Guthrie especially now, Mellencamps maturity since day one far outlasts Bruce, of course he will never get the cred bruce gets and i respect Bruce for amazing talent, but John is a way more diverse artist, I mean John totally embraced RB (classic) Dance Music (production from Junior Vasquez) also John's bands, his work with Meshell and India Arie before they were more known. People need to get into John's catalog more deeply than just Pink Houses and Jack and Diane, Albums like "Human Wheels" from 1993, "Freedoms Road" from 2006 the "John Mellencamp" album from 1998 his blues records, his last 3 offerings have been amazing putting him far and above many others. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
