Morrissey denies being homosexual

Morrissey has issued a statement clarifying his sexuality following the publication of his book Autobiography last week (October 17).

In the memoir, Morrissey writes that he was involved in a two-year relationship with a man Jake Owen Walters, which took place in the singer's 30s, though he doesn't specify if they were lovers or not. Morrissey writes that his relationship with Walters marked "the first time in my life the eternal 'I' becomes 'we', as, finally, I can get on with someone".

A statement assigned to Morrissey on True To You, the online 'zine on which the singer communicates with his fanbase, says that he is not homosexual but "humasexual".

The statement says: "Unfortunately, I am not homosexual. In technical fact, I am humasexual. I am attracted to humans. But, of course ... not many".

The statement is dated October 19 and comes from Sweden, where Morrissey appeared at a bookshop signing copies of his work last week.

Morrissey's autobiography is on course to be a Christmas best-seller, according to high-street retailer Waterstones. Speaking to Associated Press, Jon Howells, spokesman for the Waterstones book store chain, said he expects the book to sell well in the run-up to the festive season. "In Britain, he is one of our icons," Howells said. "His is the great untold story from the '80s generation of music heroes." Autobiography is also Number One on the Amazon best-sellers list at the time of writing.

"Unfortunately, I am not homosexual. In technical fact, I am humasexual.

Say, what!? Well, Moz that statement is in direct confilct with so many of the homoerotic lyrics you've written throughout your professional career history, to wit:

“Handsome Devil” – ''A boy in the bush/Is worth two in the hand/I think I can help you get through your exams/Oh, you handsome devi''

“This Charming Man” – ''Punctured bicycle/On a hillside desolate/Will nature make a man of me yet?/When in this charming car/This charming man/Why pamper life’s complexity/When the leather runs smooth/On the passenger seat?/I would go out tonight/But I haven’t got a stitch to wear/This man said “it’s gruesome that someone so handsome should care”

"Piccadilly Palare" - " Off the rails I was and off the rails/ I was happy to stay/ Get out of my way/ on the rack I was "easy meat/ but a reasonably good buy/
the Piccadilly palare was just a silly slang/ between me and the boys in my gang".

* Palare was British gay slang used in the 1960s.

Morrisey is one of those assholes that tries always to be deep. So, of course he is ''humansexual'' cause we are unworthy to understand his deep, complex, tortured mind.

Motherfucker you gay! now shut the fuck up and continue making solo albums that put people to sleep like it's a pill.

But the statement is VERY funny! This guy, or gay, is a genius. Not so much a musical genius but a humagenius (a genius as a human being, that is).

I like the fact that he doesn't believe in labels. Good for him. People like to fuck other people and he is one of them. Why does it matter what gender they are?

I have always been curious about Morrissey who got popular by writing songs about how miserable he was and how miserable life is. I bet he is happy that Zoloft was not around when he was a kid.

Would be great if the Smiths got back together. Sounds like he doesn't need the money though. sad

(Dear Self,

Stop fantasizing about the former Smith's lead singer being gay. Erase those memories from high school. No, Steven Patrick Morrissey will NOT go to the prom with you! And you should not masterbate to his pictures any more either, effective immediately!

What surprises me is that Morrissey's autobiography surely has many, many interesting things, and people are talking only about sex. Well, maybe it doesn't surprise me that much...

The problem isn't that he denies being gay, it's his response to it. Rather than say something like "I'm not gay, I'm bi/pansexual", he decided to make up some humansexual garbage thinking he's being deep or ironic or something

On Dec 3, the publisher will release the memoir in North America. Yeah, I'm buying a copy. Egocentric? Absolutely. But he's secured his place in music as an adroit lyricist and idiosyncratic front man/ solo artist.

I'm more surprised to hear that his autobiography is so popular, than to hear him say something pretentious like "I'm humasexual"! Guess I didn't realize he was so popular/admired in the U.K. I'm pretty sure he's not a household name here in the U.S.!

Household name? Not so much for his music but for every couple of months when he opens his mouth and says something ridiculous..

He only stays on the UK papers for saying stupid shit. He hasn't been relevant as a musician since he left the Smiths. Real talk.

Well, Timmy, I can't agree with this. He has been relevant as a musician from time to time. He was with his first album, also in the beginning of the 90s and then in the 2004-come back with You Are The Quarry. He certainly hasn't achieved the significance he had with The Smiths, but he has been relevant and, as I see it, some of his solo albums can compare with The Smiths ones.

The part that really bothered me is why is this being published by Penguin classics? wtf. Yeah I get it he is a former big star but does that make what he has to say of such import as to be termed an instant classic?!

I agree. Penguin's 'Classics' imprint is usually kept for proven classic authors like Orwell or Tolstoy, not this conceited churl.
