Celia was so ridiculously cool!!!!!

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I became aware of her artistry mostly because of her cameo role in Wycelf Jean's 1997 video for "Guantanamera". Thanks to YouTube I can see clips of her when she was in her prime years.

I always thought she could be Patti LaBelle's Latina sister!

It's a shame her life was cut short just as she was really starting to gain popularity in the U.S.

Just think of all the new dance music and ballads she could have done.

I believe that they were friends and Patti even performed at a tribute concert held in Celia's honor before she passed away.

That Concert special aired on Telemundo. At Pedro Knight's request Patti sang "Ave Maria" at the Funeral. Patt sang it acapella and she mentioned in one of her books that she was terrifed to sing it. Ms. Celia Cruz will FOREVER be The Queen of Salsa! Azucar!
