LMFAO in the black community LMFAO were one of the biggest acts last year. The biggest rappers in the world. I go to the concert I see whites, hispanics, asians east indians, and about 2 blacks. Are LMFAO not liked amongst blacks? They got airplay with the first on Hip Hop stations, can't say the new album. Could that be why. Maybe in your part of the country, but not my city. Their music and whole presentation is very "white"-geared, so no. In my region, Detroit, only the pop stations played them (the same way only pop stations play Flo Rida); the fact that they are Berry Gordy's sons didn't tug at any sentimental heart strings when it comes to them and black radio.

They talk white in reality. But the presentation is black geared to me. Working up a purple sweat.

Sky Blu (Skyler Gordy), the other half of the duo, is Berry Gordy's grandson.

There is a saying about things that "ain't for us". LMFAO is one of those things. "We" know what they were doing and the crowd they were going for. It wasn't "us". Its cool and all. They were a good novelty act and they will alwys have that moment. I believe that secretly, most artists, no matter how seriously they take themsleves, would like to just once in their career be responsible for a "craze" of some sort.

How is the presentation black-geared? In addition to how black folks in general tend to not listen to dance/pop songs that sound like "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy and I Know It," I don't see too many black entertainers that basically came off like a pair of silly clowns rockin a mostly white spring break beach crowd like they do. As someone else said, LMFAO really 'ain't for us.'

How can't you tell they're black/ They're rappers, they're style is Rave/Hip Hop. They work with Lil Jon.
Are they just not good, too pop, or too white? Find it funny cause many black teens act white these days. They're style isn't that different from Riahnna, Neyo, or Usher. ANd pop rappers don't get play on black radio> Eminem and Hammer are 2 of the biggest pop rappers. They got play on The Box(Houston). Can't see why LMFAO and Flo Rida don't. It's ironic cause Dance is..black music. Working up a purple sweat.

Someone else said they were white. They may be poppy or Willl Smithey but they do rap. They use Yo. Kind of like the Beastie Boys. they're Pubnk and white...but are considered Hip Hop. Even though FFYRTP was Rap-Metal.
Edit oh and yes Raves stem from black music. Techno comes from Electro/B-boys, and House is just new Disco. It was made to be new Disco-Funk for black and hispanic gays. That's why Redfoo wears the big fro. [Edited 10/13/13 20:38pm] [Edited 10/13/13 20:40pm] Working up a purple sweat.

Some people assume that Black folks are the biggest consumers of Rap music and we're not. White Teens buy more Rap music than any other group in America.

Exactly. Also, what makes this guy think black people don't listen to dance music? Trolls be gone!

I've gotten in trouble with this issue. In England they do. New York Chicago and Detroit has tons of em. But across the nation black people do not listen to Dance music. Working up a purple sweat.

As someone else pointed out, their production style isn't really that far off from Rihanna and Usher's more recent stuff. What about their image, though? They have a very hipster-y look, and let's face it, ain't no youth culture whiter than hipster culture.... And I see all of your creations as one perfect complex

they are marketed as a POP act not as an URBAN ACT, they are not rappers and we dont care for the shuckle and jive. Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

There's actually no such thing as Pop. Pop is hust people from other genres put into one a category cause their music sells good. Sao they would be the Rap side of Pop or Pop Rappers. But still very much Rap. Working up a purple sweat.

i'm probably really naieve, but what is that black and white thinking? Not every black person is the same, not every white person is the same. what does it matter which skin color goes to which concert?

WHo said anything about blacks listening to Dance Music and anything about their thinking. FOr some reason when race and dance music comes up peoples feathers get ruffled.
Here in Houston people don't. I'd go to Kaboom and Hyperia and there'd be about 2 black people there. ALl the other races though. Now that they play Hip Hop they'll show up at The Roxy and Drink. Once again Dance is not a national thing for blacks. Just some Chicago,Detroit and New York. Then there's Europe(England). Outside that you may see some in teh suburbs r the major artists. Riahnna,Neyo,Usher,Beyonce,Chris,Janet and of course Prince. Working up a purple sweat.
