Please, Rufus, don't do this to yourselves. Katie Kinisky: "So What Are The Latest Dances, Nell?"

Okay I found it.
Sly Stone Will Return to the StageThe reclusive Sly Stone has announced three upcoming shows with another legendary funk group, Rufus. Stone will join Rufus—who were Chaka Khan’s former band—for two shows at New York’s BB King Blues Club on October 5. Then, Stone will join Rufus for a show at Washington, DC’s Howard Theatre on October 6. Stone played a few high-profile shows in the mid ’00s, but has not played a major gig since his disastrous appearance at Indio, CA’s Coachella in 2010. Sly & the Family Stone are in the midst of a promotional campaign for their new box set retrospective Higher!. For more on the band’s origins, be sure to order the October/November issue of Relix.
It looks like they've performed together before.

It's obvious Brother Sly's an erratic proposition at best live, but he sure showed he could bring the funky rhythm guitar for a moment or two at the top of that version of Thank You .
In fact, I think that's the first live footage I've seen of Sly playing guitar since his 'comeback', so thanks for that. Previously, I've only seen him on keys, singing and playing with his vocoder with mixed results.
Even so, Sly somehow just oozes funkiness just with his very presence on stage, even as the wierd, erratic old dude he now is .

checked the website for Howard Theatre and the listing was removed. Apparently the show in DC has been cancelled.

I found a few reviews of the first BB King's show. None of them are good. The second B.B. King's and D.C. show were canceled.

Soul/funk legend Sly Stone just released a huge box set, and then made his return to the stage this past weekend with shows with Rufus in NYC and DC. The NYC show was his first in a few years, and it happened on Saturday (10/5) at BB King's, where Sly and the Family Stone played in 2007, which was his first NYC show in 32 years. At those 2007 shows, despite a few mishaps, they mostly went over well and the one we caught back then saw Sly staying on stage for most of the 70-ish minute set.
Last week's BB King's show was billed as "Rufus featuring Sly Stone," and there is some confusion about what exactly that billing meant he'd be doing, as well as some confusion about what he actually did do. One anonymous attendee tells us: Sly came out towards the end of Rufus's set. Brought people on stage to sing one song. In fact the three people that came on stage, Sly pulled money out of his pocket and gave it to them. He tried to make a go at the keyboards which of course didn't work or at least that's what they said. He tried to strap on a guitar and he didn't think that was working. He talked to the crowd for a bit... They tried to do another song (Sly was supposed to do a 6 song set) but Sly did not want to unless the instruments were working so he left the stage saying he would come back. Of course he never did.
He was also initially supposed to do a late show with Rufus at the venue, but that ended up being cancelled. You can watch a video of Sly's short time on stage at the show, along with more pictures of the show, below...

It seem sad. Sly seems to have some serious issues and maybe not be on stage
The keyboard seemed like it DID work because when the Asian woman tried it the vocoder worked.
LIke both keyboards and the guitar are on stage but not wokring? seems odd.

HHmmm.... The last footage of anything worth seeing of Sly IMHO is on YOU Tube in the Live At Tokyo Jazz Fest. He had the " help " of Rose Stone w/ her Daughter and his sister Vet plus Cynthia And Jerry and an extra trombonist as the horn section, plus the backing band was very good also. The Rufus/Sly combination doesnt work. Having the orriginal members with him is his only chance to return to any form of providence. All of his orriginal members played an important role in their success and it shows when they arent there.
