Paul McCartney has something new for fans -– a "New" single and a New album.

On Wednesday, McCartney posted a series of words on Twitter that go with the word “new,” including “sreel,” “sworthy,” “fangled” and “Orleans.”

The Twitter tease ties in with a new McCartney single, entitled New, that's now available, and an album of the same name that's scheduled for release in the fall.

The New album will include 12 new songs and will be released October 14 in the U.K. and October 15 in the U.S.

In the "New" single, which was produced by Mark Ronson, Paul sings: “Don’t look at me, it’s way too soon to see what’s gonna be. Don’t look at me. All my life I never knew, what I could be, what I could do then we were new."

Paul continues, "You came along and made my life a song, well lucky day you came along. Just in time while I was searching for a rock, you came along, then we were new. We can do what we want, we can live as we choose, you see there’s no guarantee, we’ve got nothing to lose..."

McCartney's last full-length solo album of original material was 2007's Memory Almost Full -- that is, if you don't include his classical score to the 2011 ballet Ocean's Kingdom or the 2008 electronica project Electric Arguments that he released under the moniker The Fireman.

'Bout time. It's been five years since his last proper rock/ pop album, Electric Arguments, as his Fireman alias.

I know he's been working on new stuff for a few years and has apparently recorded quite a lot of material for it, so I'm glad he's finally ready to bring some out.

Hopefully, it'll be a similar situation as with the Chaos & Creation era, where he had a lot of other existing material recorded before the main album, that later was worked on and came out as Memory Almost Full, only a year or two after the Chaos album smile .

Coming Up 2013

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
