If you want to talk about rock&roll, KISS must be inducted!!Each their own, but classic albums like KISS, Alive, Destroyer, Love Gun (not my fab though)and some great 80's albums some like to hate; Creatures of the night, Lick it up and Revenge!Sure it makes a difference when someone grows up with songs wich means a lot to your youth.CHIC is my other fav, different genre but such an icon in funk!

Yes, Paisley--KISS should have been inducted years ago! How can one of the most famous and biggest-selling rock bands of all time (like them or not) NOT be in something called "The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame"? Those were some great classic albums you listed, but I think Lick It Up and Asylum are my faves of their 80s era. Revenge was good, too!

And I also liked Chic. Some people thought of them as a disco band, but they were funky and had their own sound.

This is probably one of the most eclectic lineups I can imagine for the RRHOF. A LOT of great talent here.

As I said:

Seeing that it is a Rock Hall of FAME, KISS belongs in. They never made a Sgt. Pepper or Dark Side Of the Moon, but they were among the best showmen of their times and made some hits.

The knock on KISS was expressed by Empress, calling them a "novelty band." Can't argue with that, but KISS is a famous novelty all the same, and arguably the centerpiece of the Arena Rock Era. In other words, you can't really tell the story of Rock and Roll without them.

Heck, there are a handful of artists in the Hall (justifiably) for basically ONE SONG. Why not KISS, novelty and all?

People thought KISS was a "novelty band" because of the makeup, costumes, and wild stage show (you could say the same thing about Parliamet-Funkadelic, another of my fave bands), it DID get them attention and make them stand out, as they had planned. I think they went past the "novelty" phase in the 80s and 90s when they took off the makeup and wore "regular" clothes onstage and were still popular (album sales, tours, etc) without it. As Paisley said, the 80s were great for them.

By "novelty" I mean the full makeup, etc. As I said in my first reply, they made some memorable songs. My point was, even if you called them a "novelty act" their track record and FAME render them Hall-worthy.

KISS actually was my first musical obsession, so I'd like to see them get in.

I think the RRHOF has a thing against prog rock (it took Rush years to get in, and Yes isn't in yet), and especially hard rock and metal, even though KISS and Deep Purple are nominees this year.

Let's be clear . . . Deep Purple needs to get their ticket punched first.

^^that's what the R&RHoF is: a bunch of POSERS!!!!!

they'll add pop, jazz and other NON-rock artists, but will leave hard-rock/metal acts behind (sister genres of rock)

pathetic

I'm no metal fan, but most definitely, you can't tell the story of Rock and Roll without metal acts, and the hard-rock pioneers.
