She needs to just MOVE ON with her life. There's *nothing* she can do to change how people perceive her, anyway.Honestly, most people don't even care about Pebbles, one way or the other lol

Be careful how you word that. You haven't taken surveys or interviewed a large subset

of people to make that claim. lol

Y'all are a trip! Who brought this old news back up? Not Pebbles. You rag on Pebbles for responding in one post then praise TLC for responding in the next. confused

The back-and-forth with these ladies...lol I wish we could just find out exactly what happened. I have a feeling both sides are being truthful about some things and lying about others. Watch the first 3:30 minutes of this video-T-Boz and Chilli sent in official statements responding to Pebbles' interview on Wendy Williams this week:

A sensible response! Yes, there's a lot of back and forth and I'm sure the truth is somewhere in the middle.

This is all about putting more money in "Sister Perri's" bank account! Then it is about defamatory statements made about her in the movie. She managed to squeeze in her upcoming book in the Wendy interview remember? Then conveniently made the statement about Chilli sleeping with her then husband to strike interest in it. She knows what she is doing! Plus its the upcoming reality show about "The Reids" which I bet will be picked up by Vh1..

Oh so you're a psychic now. Being Sister Perri's number 1 fan can you tell us about the

sermon she's gonna give her congregation sunday. It's cool that YOU'RE a fan but you've

gone overboard in your defense to validate her. Would we even be having this conversation

lol It's funny you see it that way, but it explains a lot about your responses. I'm a Pebbles fan to be sure, but she's way down the list of my favorite artists. As far as going "overboard" to somehow defend or validate her? All I've done is present facts. You can refute them with your fake statistics and personal opinions, but that doesn't change them. We're having this conversation less because I'm a fan of Pebbles and more because I respond when you make stuff up and you apparently don't like that.

I had no problem at all with your first post saying you didn't know what went on between them but your musician friend mentioned Pebbles was difficult. Nor did I have a problem with our disagreement over whether Vanessa or Pebbles had better songs. Opinions are great. I corrected your claim that Pebbles only had hits because of Face by bringing up "Mercedes Boy" and you left it at that. But then I made an aside about Pebbles having more #1 R&B songs than TLC and you went overboard attacking it presumably because you inferred I was saying she was as popular as TLC (when I was saying nothing of the sort). Then you kept posting more and more generalizations (disguised as facts) in an attempt to "prove" something about Pebbles. No one here is making her career out to be more than it was: short-lived yet successful almost exclusively in her genre. But she still has plenty of fans. I didn't even know she had a Twitter account until this thread.

nod

I will give her credit for creating the top selling female group(my favorite female group!) in history.Even though she ripped them off! She does deserve to be acknowledged for it. Being a female, creating that was unheard of at the time and she was a big part in their success. Only female any close to that since is Missy.

Besides the "I can't talk about it legally", the other frustrating non-answer was pointing to an answer in a book that doesn't exist yet!

I remember Oprah's most hated answer to one of her questions was "read my book" which is what MJ said when she kept asking about plastic surgery, but at least his memoirs Moonwalk was available in stores. Pebbles better not be too late with that book!

Left Eye wrote her own rhymes from Day 1. T-Boz and Chilli began dabbling in song-writing since FanMail with a few credits here and there, but the aforementioned "Unpretty" is their only big hit co-written by either.

You really are full of yourself dude. lol First of all bring your seeing eye dog to the party because if you re read my post Reply 152 I never said Pebbles only had hits because of
Babyface. So you didn't correct anything. I actually said in defense of her she's had hits

thanks to Babyface. You can interpret that anyway you want. So she had one hit without Babyface but the majority of the hits in her catalog was due to the production wizardry of Babyface. How successful was her 3rd album without Babyface? The proof is in the pudding there. Fake statistics? Please tell me where I presented fake statististics of anything here. I'm not the statistician remember you are.

So the fact that I stated Waterfalls and Unpretty were number 1 hits is made up? It was just a matter of semantics. They topped the Hot 100 charts. Fact. I admitted I overlooked

when you stated Pebbles had 1 more r&b hit than TLC but that still doesn't change the fact that those songs were number 1 for TLC regardless of what charts they were on. And you talk about presenting facts as though you discovered a cure for cancer. The only facts you presented was Pebbles having one more r&b hit than TLC which I never disputed so I don't know what you going on about. The only thing I stated about Pebbles that seemed to ruffle your feathers is that most of her material isn't memorable to the average music fan. Then you went on some diatribe about taking surveys and interviewing subsets of people. lol One person in this thread already stated they only remember her for one song. Whether you want to admit it or not if Pebbles is even bought up on the radar of most music fans they are probably only gonna remember Girlfriend and Mercedes Boy.

Notice I said Most music fans not all. There's a difference. wink

I'm making up bullshit but you haven't said a damn thing of note to prove that I've made up bs. wacky

You accusing me of shit that I didn't even say or you have your own interpretation

of it. You started coming off as a hothead because people in the thread were going in on

Pebbles and they weren't waving pom poms for her like you and I actually defended her musically by saying she had some hits and then you went off on some bs tangent because no one was saying what you wanted to hear. You proved that by getting a little salty with others in the thread so you can take all your nonsense and stuff it. nutso

of it. You started coming off as a hothead because people in the thread were going in on

Pebbles and they weren't waving pom poms for her like you and I actually defended her musically by saying she had some hits and then you went off on some bs tangent because no one was saying what you wanted to hear. You proved that by getting a little salty with others in the thread so you can take all your nonsense and stuff it. nutso

Yeah, I had a feeling you weren't actually ready to close this chapter...

I can't tell if you're trolling or honestly ignorant, so I'll try again to explain it to you:

In reply 183 you claim:

"My only

argument was that you can count on one hand the number of songs by her that are instantly recognizable by the average music head with Girlfriend and Mercedes Boy being the two."

1. How on earth could you possibly know this?
2. Where are you getting this information?

Answers:
1. You don't.
2. You made it up.

As for me proving it's bs, it's a hard thing to prove either way. Who would even keep track of such a random claim? OTOH:
1. Again, not one poster in this thread has stated they only recognize the two songs you mentioned. Multiple people have either explicitly or implicitly posted something that contradicts your claim, even one (SoulAlive) who then made an even more outlandish claim (that the average person only recognizes "Girlfriend" from Pebbles).
2. On the iTunes Store right now, "Girlfriend" and "Mercedes Boy" are the top-2 selling Pebbles tracks and occupy positions 1, 2, 4, 7, and 9 in the top 10, but "Always" and "Love Makes Things Happen" also have 2 spots each in the top 10 while "Giving You the Benefit" has 2 in the top 11. In comparison, when looking at the Boys (another act popular around the same time with a handful of #1 R&B hits, not much crossover success, and little recorded output in years [at least as "The Boys"]), "Dial My Heart" occupies the first 3 positions with "Crazy" appearing at #4 and again at #9. So in this one instance with a snapshot of data from the largest music seller in the US, "Dial My Heart" appears to be easily the most popular song by the Boys.

Is it safe to say "Girlfriend" and "Mercedes Boy" are the two most popular/recognizable Pebbles songs and "Dial My Heart" and "Crazy" are the two most popular/recognizable songs by the Boys? Probably. But where does the line of "instantly recognizable" fall?

Truth be told, we have no way of knowing if any Pebbles song is instantly recognizable to the average music fan. Claims about the recognizability of a song to the average music fan are largely based on conjecture and assumptions.

Does anybody know if Pebbles divorced Reid BEFORE he sold LaFace to Arista for $100-Million? I saw her lengthy and REAL interview on Wendy and she seems like the type of Sista that doesnt walk away empty handed. What a lot of people don't seem to understand is that Pebbles would NEVER surface with any comments about TLC if The Powers That Be would stop mentioning her name, painting her in a bad light and producing a Film that only tells one side of the Drama. No matter how many times people say "Pebbles is a has-been and nobody cares what she thinks" she's STILL a human being with Feelings and she has a right to speak up for herself when negative things are put out there about her....

cool
I'll just conclude saying based on the old school radio stations I listen to in my area Pebbles doesn't get any airplay. Much to my surprise they don't even spin Girlfriend or Mercedes Boy as of now. Yet one station I listen to a little more frequently spin Stacey Lattisaw's Love On A Two Way Street daily. Call it Radio Station preference or listener preference Pebbles music just isn't getting any spins here. It's possible they could during an old school radio mix on Saturdays but not during the week during regular programming. I'm wrapped up into college football on Saturdays. Just maybe she's getting airplay elsewhere.

So strange someone just played Stacey Lattisaw's Love On A Two Way Street for me this past weekend and looked at me like eek when I said I had never heard it. I'm 31 the kid was 22.

Cool man, I totally get that. That's one of the reasons I gave up on radio long ago. Even with so many satellite stations and internet radio, it often seems like the same handful of songs are played on the regular. I'm glad I can choose what I want to hear. Radio is probably less relevant to the overall music business than ever before.

That's a nice tune by Stacy Lattisaw, but I prefer the version by the Moments. Either way, I find it amusing that song would be in regular rotation. lol
