I just finished watching it on FB before switching over to here.

the video is hot, he looks great, love it! but i do wish instead of the stripper story he would of done a more literal video acting out the lyrics in the song.

That was a nice video. The ladies were looking real nice. My question is only with the beginning plot. Why didn't they follow up? I guess I need to get Bruno's take on it.

Very steamy and hot video! Bruno looked gorge as always and Freida was beautiful as well (and lucky!). I think he worked the hardest and was the most excited about this video than any other video he's done. Wonder if he will reveal some Behind The Scenes footage or show a "Making of" mini-documentary of the video someday?

You mean like acting out the video based entirely on the lyrics? If he did that the video would probably have been very controversial and even X-rated I think--especially with that beginning lyric about him having a "cocaine kicker!" I dont know if Youtube would have even shown it and MTV definitely wouldnt have aired it. The only place you would be able to watch it would be on Facebook. I think its good he made it just hot enough without going over the edge and making it porny or really controversial.

I wanted him and a girl, in a dark room with just moonlight coming in the window, throwing each other around, breaking lamps and stuff. Maybe some flashbacks of them flirting in a grocery store or something to show a relationship foundation, cuts to old women looking out their windows horrified at the sounds coming from the house across the street, reaching for their landlines to call the cops."

I also liked how he was performing on stage in the background while the girl danced but besides that... it looks just like any other video out now.

Yes my man was looking HOT in the video! Especially in the car scenes But I agree with you, in the beginning it looked like this was going to be a very interesting video--it had a Tarantino-esque vibe about it. But unfortunately it didnt turn out that way. Now I LOVE me some Bruno, I think he's wildly talented and a such a dynamic live performer - he's the real deal! I know this is the most ambitious video he's ever done.


But this video...overall I thought it was rather Meh. Like others have said, the whole stripper in the strip club thing has been done several times. There just wasnt much of a plot in the video, the whole storyline was very weak imo. Bruno is banging the hot new stripper!! Ok. That's pretty much the storyline here. But then again I guess the song itself doesnt have much of a storyline either sooo...oh well.


It is what it is but it would've been cool if they could have added an interesting plot to the storyline to make it a bit more intriguing...like maybe have Isabella be a secret undercover Russian spy sent to sniff out the sleazy strip club owner (Luis Guzman) because he's been involved with Latvian mafia secretly smuggling weapons to their country. Isabella is sent to take Luis down and destroy his operation (and the strip club) but somehow Bruno gets caught in the middle.

On another note I loved the ending with Bruno running toward the chick in an alley and turning into a gorilla! So campy and funny lol!

After premiering his new video on Facebook today, Bruno Mars has unleashed new track “Gorilla” to his 41 million fans as part of Facebook's new #NowPlaying program for exclusive premieres.

Breaking the 1 million views mark in just over an hour, it's clearly a strong promotional tool in the right hands.

Unlike y'all I think the video is the shit, I loved everything and I DEF AGREE WITH KITTY it has a tarantino vibe, mostly Death Proof thingy going on in the beginning with Jackie Brown/Pulp Fiction glimps..... Yeah I also wished he could follow to that.

BUT Guys, its the first time Bruno does a short film, relax, the upcoming videos will be much better I think, and regarding the fact that he co-directed/created the plot makes it even worth-watching.

^I dont think its a bad video overall. I think its an overall decent video. I know this was his first short film and the longest as well as his most ambitious music video he's ever done. Its great seeing him be so passionate and proud about this video--he put a lot of work into it and I think it paid off well Would it have been nice if the video would have followed more in the direction of its first few minutes? Sure, but I'm not holding that against him.

The video was hott, and I wanna give him big kudos for making a sexy video without making it trashy/sleazy/porny. Given the lyrics of the song, it would have been very easy for him to go down that route. The video could have been much more controversial and vulgar, but he didnt go there. He made it steamy and hot just enough without crossing the line into total sleaze and vulgarity, and for that, I thank and applaud him
