Beck is prepping the release of his first studio album in several years, as part of a record deal he has just signed with Capitol Records.

The album, titled Morning Phase, will debut sometime next February, and is described as a "companion piece of sorts" to his 2002 effort, Sea Change.

Morning Phase will be Beck's first studio album since 2008's Morning Guilt. He put out sheet music for 20 new songs last December, and has unveiled a few singles since then: "Defriended," "I Won't Be Long" and "Gimme."

The track listing and exact release date for Morning Phase to be announced.

Hmmmm......As much as I love Beck and as much as I love sad songs I never felt Sea Change apart from that one song "Lost Cause".

Sea Change is a classic piece of music

i cannot wait for this. simply can not wait. "sea change" is one

of about 10 albums (by any artist, of all time) that i could not

do without anymore. it's become a part of my dna ever since

the first time i listened to it. so if this comes close to that, it's

going to be album of the year for me, hands down.

the 3 songs he's released as stand alone singles this year are

in fact songs off another album he completed but didn't find a

way to release at that moment as he was without a label. but

he seems intent on releasing the entire album through those 1

off singles, as he's said in a recent interview. so that's another

thing to look forward to.

plus, he's already working on a full fledged all out electronic

album follow up for "morning phase". the man's been busy.

He's a musical guy, I can't wait to hear what he's been doing!
