I'll always remember the first time I listened to "Too Young To Die". I was 15 years old and I was literally amazed... I am still!

I was obsessed with Jamiroquai for a while and still love them. I got into Jamiroquai around Traveling Without Moving, immediately went back and got the earlier albums and then got any CD maxi-singles I could find. Was really into the band through Funk Odyssey. Bought the next two albums, but wasn't as into the group by then.

Still go back and listen to Jamiroquai regularly, sometimes put a mix on my MP3 player.

I love Jamiroquai (hence the topic). I believe Dynamite was a poor effort, and not at all that good. Though I love their latest album 'Rock Dust Light Star'. It's my joint favourite alongside 'The Return of the Space Cowbody'.

I love Jamiroquai's music, though they haven't been the same since Zender left, and the band's last 2 albums were underwhelming.

Some of my favorite songs in chronological order:

"Too Young To Die"
"Space Cowboy"
"Stillness In Time"
"Mr. Moon"
"Everyday"
"Untitled Track"
"Butterfly"
"Main Vein"
"Seven Days In Sunny June"
"Smile"

I like this album, but it's not one of my favorites. It's not nearly as consistent as other albums by them.Still,it contains several superb songs: "Seven Days In Sunny Days" is an obvious highlight, and "Starchild","Electric Mistress" and "Feels Just Like It Should" are alot of fun.

I think the album that came before it,A Funk Odyssey,is the best album they ever did.

Yeah, I read that Derrick said that an in an interview or something. I hope they include some of the 'Rock Dust Light Star' outtakes. Reportedly there was a lot, and the snippet of a song called Super Highway I heard sounded great.

Smile is fantastic. It is in an incredible shame it wasn't on RDLS. I really hope it's somehow included on their new album, though I doubt it very much.

Rock Dust Light Star was a total return to form after the uneven Dynamite nod

Songs like "All Good In The Hood","Two Completely Different Things" and "Lifeline" recall the best moments of their earlier albums.I would have no problem if they decided to continue in this direction.

So far,the only news I heard about the new album is that one song is titled "Thinking Of You,Thinking Of Me (Thinking Of Us Alone)".I hope to hear more news really soon.

Return of the Space Cowboy gets my vote, with Traveling Without Moving a not-so-distant second. Conventional wisdom used to say Stuart Zender made the difference between good and great for the band, and I don't disagree.

I didn't become a fan until the Synchronized album, when Stuart was already gone. But I do appreciate what he contributed to the band,on those early albums.

What I love about Jamiroquai is...they make music as if we're still in 1978 lol They refuse to jump on the hip-hop bandwagon, you won't find no 'guest rappers' on their albums. What you will find instead is REAL basslines, infectious hooks, moody synthesizers.....it's clear that they were heavily influenced by artists like Chic,Roy Ayers,Pleasure, etc.

Yeah.

I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I do love their music.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

The new album is really strong. I don't have a favourite song from it, maybe the title track, Lifeline or She's A Fast Persuader. But kudos to 'Hurtin'', Jay showcases some rougher vocals than usual on that track.

Edited it twice (3 times now) and I still don't know how to embed the video in the post.

damn I'm feeling old

I still remember the 94-2002 years, when J was on fire, classic singles + strong album tracks

his more recent albums bore the hell outta me

Thanks biggrin. I think it would be amazing to see Jamiroquai in an intimate setting. Love how Jay grabs the band's beers during the musical interlude.

Finally worked the video thing out lol

I think their last album,Rock Dust Light Star, showed alot of artistic growth. The songwriting throughout is much more 'serious' and the album is much less "disco-ish" than the two albums that came before it.A few tracks leaned more towards rock (title track and "Hurtin").Lyrically, the songs on this album seem to be very reflective and personal.

As someone mentioned above,it's a shame that "Smile" was left off the album.
