Heavy seemed like a genuinely nice person and to see all the people he was involved with show respect at his funeral was so touching. His daughter is beautiful and his family seemed close too. Musical legend who was missed the day he passed rose Also nice to see the contributions that "the Boyz" made wink

I thought it was a great episode. Never knew she dated one of the producers from C+C Music Factory.(Civiles) Loved the way she kept it real and said guys notice her chest first I guess that would make them say her name twice. Lol.

Those dance classics took me back.

I loved Heavy D's Unsung!

I don't feel as though he was unsung as an artist in any way but, I realize that he was unsung (at least to me) as a person. It was great that this episode focused on his kindness and positive attitude and outlook on life. His life, his separation from "The Boys", was all drama free. He didn't curse and did his best to be a positive role model.

Looking back, I've never known one person to say anything negative about him. A close family member of mine knew him quite well in the earlier years and I recall that her recounts of him were all positive of him as well, decades ago, long before he passed.

I saw him on a BET series a few years ago and he was doing reggae music. It was good but I likened it to M.C. Snow because I had absolutely no idea that he was Jamaican. I suppose that it's a good thing that he remained out of the press because there was nothing negative that could be reported about him, but also a shame because he was such a good guy that so little was known.

One of his friends or family members (don't remember which) stated that they wish that he could have seen the turn out for his funeral and that all that he wanted was to be loved. That made m sad. That someone like him could go his entire life and not be fully appreciated.

And the irony is that he suffered an embolism which occurred during a flight that he took to pay tribute to Michael Jackson. Someone who is well known for being a positive and good person. He didn't like to fly but went any way. It was his last act of kindness that ultimately (albeit indirectly) killed him.

I just saw it.I think it was a good episode. The comments about the Straight To The Sky album were interesting.Back in 1989,I bought this record and I couldn't understand why it didn't "move" me the way the previous album did.I think it was a mistake to release "Little Jackie Wants To Be A Star" as the first single. That song slowed their momentum. Most of the album is generic New Jack Swing.Artistic growth can be a good thing but in this case, they probably should have stuck with the formula that made Spanish Fly such a masterpiece.

Anyway....Lisa comes across as a genuine, warm person.Very down to earth.I've always admired that about her.I'm glad that she's still out there performing, and that she is still close to the Cult Jam guys.

I remember an interview in the late 80s,where Lisa described one of their shows. She said that some obnoxious guys in the audience started yelling "Take off your blouse!".She kept her cool and informed them that "If that's what you came to see, then the exit doors are right there" (pointing to the back of the auditorium).

lol

I really enjoyed the Heavy D episode. I learned a lot about him that I didn't know, which only makes me like him even more than I already did. Sad that such a positive soul is gone at only 44 yrs old.

Two older brothers died before him, taken by the streets...those poor parents have only one son left. sad

The energetic performances and diversity of the genre were very well represented by Heavy D and the Boys

It brought back a lot of memories and also made me a little sad to see the direction that corporate rap/hip hop has gone.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I agree! God forbid that the art of hip hop be positive and a way of helping to uplift people.

Not a very engaging lineup but I'm most interested in the Emotions, Delfonics, and Lisa Lisa.

Okay, hold up !!!! They're doing one on The Emotions ????????????? eek. Where did you see this mentioned ? Don't play, now. Those are my girls lol !!!! But, for real, where is everybody getting this info about them doing one on The Emotions ? All I saw was 5 acts mention, and The Emotions weren't on that list.

It doesn't look like Prince Johnny C has aged much.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I knew about them as I used to hear them on the radio. Also my cousin went to school with Brad, so a lot of the stuff in this episode I knew already. When he was in school, Brad listened to heavy metal music. J Prince is similar to Suge Knight, maybe even more bad, beating up his acts and other shady things. Willie D used to have a radio talk show and he had Destiny's Child on it about a year before they released anything. Willie is also a big fan of James Taylor (the 1970s singer-songwriter), and would play his songs often.

Saw The Lisa Lisa and Heavy D I enjoyed both. Lots of stuff I didn't know or forget. I wonder why they didn't mention what happened to Heavy D's eye. I remember seeing him on a TV show Boston Public and thought his acting was good. Didn't know Lisa was on a sitcom I'm sure it was short lived. Thery both seemed to be real down to earth.

I loved Heavy D. My mother and I saw him one time when I was younger... he was crossing the street to the barbershop that I go to now here in his hometown of Mount Vernon, NY. We Mount Vernonites (Money Earnin' M.V) miss him dearly. My dad went to his funeral too.
