Whatever Happened to ... (post yours)

It's a thread about MIA artists from the past. Post yours, and see if a fellow Orger can't help you solve the mystery. I'll go first...

Whatever happened to Taco?

("Singing in the Rain" and "Puttin' on the Ritz" from the singer's 1982 'After Eight' release)

I've always wondered what happened to Toni Smith, Denise Clark (Clark Sisters), Tag, BO$$, Break Reform, and Y?N-Vee.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Louie Louie (Louie Cordero)

He sang "Sittin' in the Lap of Luxury," "I Wanna Get Back With You," and "Let's Get Started." He was also Madonna's boyfriend in the "Borderline" video and had uncredited help from George Michael and Prince on his albums. Rosie Gaines even contributed some of the backing vocals. He earned the title of Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year a couple of times in the 90's and then... dropped off the face of the earth. He was fantastic!

I didn't recognize the name of the singer, but the song title sounded familiar, so I went to Youtube and it was the song! I haven't heard it since it was out. It used to get played a lot on the radio. I've never seen the video though or realize Dizzy Gillespie was playing on it. I did recognize Louie Louie when I saw it. I must have seen his record or something.

Still causin' it! Lady Kier is an outspoken funkalicious social media queen. Check out her Facebook ladymisskier or kier kirby. She also has a tumblr page that is really fun, "Lady Miss Kier's oh my blog":

http://theladymisskier.tumblr.com

She's on soundcloud, twatter, instagram, etc.

I love that she writes back and generally seems to enjoy interacting with people who appreciate her work. Though Deee-lite will never reunite according to Towa Tei, both Dmitry and Ani are on her facebook list and often like/post on her threads.

She deejays around NYC and the world, often at pride events and other causeworthy things. Her last live tour was called garden of deee-lite tribute (I don't think she can legally perform "as" Deee-lite)

I think she's a sweetie with a big heart and a big mouth. Her last recorded release was a cover of George Clinton's "Bulletproof" a few years back with a DJ named Ray Mang, released on DFA. She has been teasing new material for years but after all the legal/copyright dramz I'm not surprised the releases are so sparse.
