Haim - Forever What's everyones thoughts on the all girl band HAIM? I found out about them last week while searching YouTube and really liked their Letterman performance. They're getting some great press on Pitchfork as well and according to the interview there, they rate Prince as the greatest live show they've ever attended. There's even a Youtube interview where one member tells the story about security dragging her off stage at a Prince show when she tried to climb on. I'm loving this band

Forever is over a year old now. I hope it gets re-released. Deserves to be a hit. Their debut album came straight in at number one in the UK today, stopping Timberlake getting his forth number one album. .

Haim, in my opinion, is one of the best debut albums I've heard in a long time. I freaking love it. It's like Stevie Nicks, Juice Newton and Shania Twain combined with their own personal funky touch. These chicks are so talented. The first time I heard the Wire, I practically flipped. I can't wait to see how these girls evolve. I know right now everyone's going crazy for Lorde but from me it's all about Haim. My fave tracks are Falling, Don't Save me, The Wire and My Song 5. Great album!!

The only reason I give Lorde the edge over Haim is lyrics - there's really not a single lyric on Days Are Gone that jumps out and grabs me, while there's not a song on Pure Heroine that doesn't grab me with an idea.
But the music on DAG is inarguably great - can't wait to hear how their sound evolves. I feel like there's an even more interesting band underneath the surface - My Song 5 proves it.

It's so crazy that these songs have been around so long but so few people in the US seemed to be aware of them (including me), other than maybe "Oh, I've heard they're a fun pop band but I haven't heard a track yet."
Did US pop radio just not play these singles at all?

BBC radio 2 player the arse off Don't Save Me in the UK, not so much the other singles, but being on Jools Holland on the last series surely helped. She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

It does seem harder and harder for new artists to get heard in the States. If you are not twerking or rapping, you don't get heard. Its better in the UK, but I fear the slide to similarity. .
