So if some old dude you don't know told you the choices you are making are horrible and you need to rethink your purpose in life, would you listen? Respect goes both ways. You don't come at someone you don't know and accuse them of being a witless victim to their own life and expect a positive response. Cher's response was better. She didn't say Miley's choices is a detriment to young women everywhere. She said her MTV Awards performance was simply shitty. If you're going to do sexy, then do it with some thought or sense of professionalism. Now that's good advice.

Miley's f-in with the wrong one. Sinead took on the Pope. What makes her think she can't handle a spoiled-black wannabe ratchet white-trash mess of a 20 year old?

I believe that Miley is hoed by her label, they control her and her image, they send her to do whatever she does now, twerking and all, wether it's for brainwashing teens mind or any other purpose, It's not Miley's choice, because If she is actually who she is now she would have done that since day one.
And you can't expect Miley to say "You're right, Sinead, my label uses me, I'm a hoe, Thanks for your advice" because she would "make" it public, that wouldn't serve her.
So she acts like she is the one who makes those decisions, and that her label got nothing to do with it, believe me, every artist knows it, that once you're signed you just gotta do things to GET the fame, to get the buzz and all (Not everyone, tho)... In Miley's case she had to create the twerking image, and the Wrecking Ball naked video (Tho I don't see a reason why it's hyped, media acts like it's the only video where a naked singer stars in), she has no strong personality then, so everyone could make her do anything... What a shame.
Miley SHOULD stop this, and make up her mind... and while I'm writing this, I'm just regretting the minute I gave a fuck for her....

....but the game is still the same, exploitation, right? At least I believe so. Whether it was called the record industry or now today is corporate labels, when they feel that you serve them no purpose anymore, you're tossed away like yesterday's newspaper. This is why I believe Sinead told Miley that the industry doesn't care about any of them. Plus, I think her issue with Miley is that she sold out.

Well, I do not like Sinead o Connor at all (she does gets point from though for ripping the pope's picture), but I feel like she has a point. Cyrus is a stupid little spoiled bitch, nothing more.

One of these days, Miley's gonna say something even more stupid than she's saying right now and will really get her feelings hurt. I don't feel sorry for that ho.

Irn36: "They are both wrong. If Sinead had some criticism or advice of Miley, she should have communicated that in private, not online for everyone to see. Sinead made it personal by attacking her character, so Miley is obviously going to react defensively. Of course, Miley was way out of line for attacking Sinead's mental illness. Same thing happened with Harry Belafonte and Jay Z. Public figures seriously need to get offline and pick up the phone or write a letter."
It seems that Miley Cyrus only withholds the timing of her bowel moments from Twitter and the press. And as Sinead was cited in a public forum, out of nowhere and in a lazy, uninformed fashion... it seems fair that she get her chance to holla back.

Obviously, Sinead has had more than her share of bizarre behavior, and she would be the first one to admit it. One of the many things that I admire about her is the fact that she owns up to it, and is open about her bipolar disorder. I think that celebrities openly discussing their mental health issues is a huge step forward in terms of eliminating the stigma attached to mental illness. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Least Sinead admits she's crazy, Miley is a tryhard at that crazy shit. Sinead should let Miley crash and burn. Miley's already feeling herself too much. Less talk, less attention I always say.

I can't believe I'm defending Miley Cyrus. I couldn't name a song of hers if I tried. All I know is my niece loved her on Hannah Montana. How do we know that Miley isn't suffering from mental issues? A lot of people don't own up to being metally ill because they don't know it. All of a sudden everyone wants to cast Miley as this evil person and Sinead as the righteous savior. How do we know that Sinead wrote the letter as means of stirring up controversy to get attention and press? 22 years ago, Prince went on MTV with his assless pants and a simulated orgy in the background. And Miley is crazy for doing a clumsy stripper routine? Where was all the harsh criticism of Amy Whinehouse in her self destructive moments? Is it because she was a great artist and a got a pass? Maybe we judge people based on the quality of work they produce. We have no idea what's going on in Miley's mind. Just like most people didn't know what was going with Sinead when she ripped up the picture of the Pope.

I don't know if that's really a decent comparison. Comparing what Miley did with Prince really doesn't work. He wasn't doing a lame lap dance on someone. Plus it's one event in Prince's career where he appeared to be trying too hard. That said, Miley's doing what she's doing so people won't have to keep reminding her, "didn't you use to be Hannah Montana?"
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah, but Prince early in his career wore bikini briefs and thigh high stockings while singing a song about having sex with his sister. Very few artists have come close to wilding out like that. It's get a pass because Prince is truly a great artist and Miley isn't. I do agree that she is most likely trying to separate herself from Hannah Montana. Anything within the range of decent and normal would just draw comparisons to her tv persona.

That is true about Prince. But yeah Miley's trying too hard to escape her Disney roots.

Miley Cyrus Feud: Sinead O'Connor Demands Apology, Threatens Legal ActionGetty Images
"Have you any idea how stupid and dangerous it is to mock people for suffering illness?" the singer writes in a second open letter to the pop star.Sinead O'Connor has reacted forcefully to online taunting by Miley Cyrus in the wake of her impassioned letter to the singer, demanding an apology and threatening legal action for potentially damaging her career. our editor recommends
Following O'Connor's much-discussed open letter, in which she warned the young singer of allowing herself "to be pimped" by the music business, Cyrus responded by mocking O'Connor's mental health issues of two years ago via screengrabs on Twitter. "Before there was Amanda Bynes," Cyrus wrote of the actress who has also battled mental health issues.PHOTOS: Miley Cyrus' Most...al MomentsHours later, O'Connor penned a second letter slamming Cyrus for posting the 2-year-old tweets when "I was unwell and seeking help" in a way that made them appear recent. She called Cyrus out for specifically referencing the troubled Bynes."I mean really really… who advises you?" she asks incredulously. "Have you any idea how stupid and dangerous it is to mock people for suffering illness? You will yourself one day suffer such illness, that is without doubt. The course you have set yourself upon can only end in that, trust me."O'Connor goes on to call Cyrus' flippant attitude "dangerous and irresponsible" and a bad example to young women. "Have you no sense of danger at all? Or responsibility? Remove your tweets immediately or you will hear from my lawyers," she warns. "Mockery causes deaths. Period. It is an unacceptable form of bullying, no matter who it is doing the bullying."In another response to the controversy on Twitter, Cyrus answers an offer to a meeting that O'Connor made in her initial letter. "Sinead. I don't have time to write you an open letter cause I'm hosting & performing on SNL this week. So if you'd like to meet up and talk lemme know in your next letter."PHOTOS: Hollywood's Twitter FeudsCyrus' note inspired a forceful third letter from O'Connor, posted again to her website. In it, O'Connor doubles down in her defense of Bynes ("an entirely innocent party … who did nothing to deserve your abuse")."You can take five minutes today between g-string f---in' changes to publicly apologize and remove your abusive tweets," she writes. "If you do not then you don’t give a shit who you mock and what damage you do by being so ignorant."O'Connor reiterates that if Cyrus does not apologize, she will bring about legal proceedings "since it is extremely hard to be given work when people think one is suffering from mental illness."She promises that "When you end up in the psych ward or rehab I’ll be happy to visit you.. and would not lower myself to mock you."In closing, O'Connor asks Cyrus to consider the feelings of others who have been the target of mockery in the past, including her friend Britney Spears.STORY: Miley Cyrus Mocks ...e Was …'"How do you feel when your friend Britney Spears is mocked and humiliated for having had mental health problems? I know I personally want to bash those who treat her that way. If she is your friend and more importantly if you are a true friend to her. You ought apologise [sic] for joining those who mock and humiliate women who have been too nice frankly, to manage the music business without sensibly losing their minds."O'Connor's first letter, which laments Cyrus' image as a twerking, sledgehammer-licking provocateur, has since inspire another letter, this time from former Dresden Dolls singer Amanda Palmer. In her defense of Cyrus, Palmer says "let's give our young women the right weapons to fight with as they charge naked into battle, instead of ordering them to get back in the house and put some goddamn clothes on."Read O'Connor's second and third letters below.Letter #2:Miley… Really? Who the fuck is advising you? Because taking me on is even more fuckin’ stupid than behaving like a prostitute and calling it feminism. You have posted today tweets of mine which are two years old, which were posted by me when I was unwell and seeking help so as to make them look like they are recent. In doing so you mock myself and Amanda Bynes for having suffered with mental health issues and for having sought help.I mean really really… who advises you? have you any idea how stupid and dangerous it is to mock people for suffering illness? You will yourself one day suffer such illness, that is without doubt. The course you have set yourself upon can only end in that, trust me.STORY: Sinead O'Connor Te...Be Pimped'I am staggered that any 20 yr old woman of the 21st century could behave in such a dangerous and irresponsible manner as to not only send the signal to young women that its ok to act like prostitutes but also to the signal that those who have suffered or do suffer mental health problems are to be mocked and have their opinions invalidated. Have you no sense of danger at all? or responsibility? Remove your tweets immediately or you will hear from my lawyers. I am certain you will be hearing from all manner of mental health advocacy groups also. It is not acceptable to mock any person for having suffered. It is most unbecoming of you to respond in such a fashion to someone who expressed care for you. And worse that you are such an anti-female tool of the anti-female music industry. I hope that you will apologise to Amanda Bynes and to any person who has been wounded by your mockery of those who have suffered. And I hope that you will wake up and understand that you in fact are a danger to women.Furthermore you posted a photo of me tearing the pope’s photo .. as if to imply insanity.. by doing so all you have achieved is to expose your staggering ignorance. I suggest you read The Philadelphia Report, The Boston Report, all the reports which will illuminate for you why that action of mine remains sane and valid. By mocking it you mock every child who suffered sexual abuse at the hands of priests and had it covered by the Vatican. You could really do with educating yourself, that is if you’re not too busy getting your tits out to read.Letter #3MileyI have no interest whatsoever in meeting you. You had plenty of time yesterday to abuse Amanda Bynes .. an entirely innocent party.. and myself.. who also did nothing to deserve your abuse.. along with every other sufferer of mental health problems and every person who suffered abuse at the hands of priests. You can take five minutes today between g- string fuckin’ changes to publicly apologise and remove your abusive tweets. If you do not then you don’t give a shit who you mock and what damage you do by being so ignorant. When you publicly apologise to Amanda and myself and all mental health sufferers as well as all who were abused by priests that will end the matter as far as I am concerned.VIDEO: Miley Cyrus Jokes ...NL' Promoswhat you did yesterday was designed to damage me and my career and has caused me enormous distress and harassment and has potential to damage my career, since you deliberately gave the impression those tweets of mine were not two years old but reflect my current condition. If you cannot apologize I will have no choice but to bring legal proceedings against you since it is extremely hard to be given work when people think one is suffering from mental illness. I have no interest in or desire to cause you trouble but if you do not apologise for having deliberately tried to cause me hurt and trouble personally and professionally I will have to bring pressure upon you. When you end up in the psych ward or rehab I’ll be happy to visit you.. and would not lower myself to mock you.Be a proper woman and make the public apologies I have listed above. Your hosting SNL is a bullshit reason for not taking five minutes to do the right thing and your behaviour yesterday will rebound upon you very badly. You have no business abusing Amanda Bynes or anyone else. How do you think you made her feel yesterday? How do you feel when your friend Britney Spears is mocked and humiliated for having had mental health problems? I know I personally want to bash those who treat her that way. If she is your friend and more importantly if you are a true friend to her.. you ought apologise for joining those who mock and humiliate women who have been too nice frankly, to manage the music business without sensibly losing their minds.Cease behaving in an anti-female capacity. You will become the victim of it shortly. Soon it will be you the media ‘crazy’ .. and you will not enjoy it.. and you will appreciate people (like myself) standing up for you. Which I will be happy to do.. if you earn my respect today by apologising publicly.Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

I'm sorry, but Sinead really sounds like she is full of herself. Apologized or I'll sue. Apologize and with all my wisdom and power I will guide you out of your female victimhood.

I thought Sinead's first letter was perfect, but it was still unsolicited advice to a 20 year old.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I just read the letter. But I agree with Cinny. No matter what my opinion is of it, did Ms. O' Connor really think Miley would heed her advice? Young people are so ridiculous nowadays. Spoiled, attention-seeking, ungrateful, unappreciative, it really doesnt surprise me that Miley tried to turn it into a joke. [Edited 10/4/13 16:26pm]

I didn't even see that part. Yeah that was a little too much lol It really is unneccesary on Sinead's part at this point. Im sure the first letter was written with the best intentions, but come on Sinead, be the adult. The fact that youre publicly feuding with a 20 year old doesnt really make you look too credible either. IMO, shouldve just written the letter and left it at that. This is just getting stupid. I think Sinead is giving Miley more credit then is warranted, as if she posted those old tweets under the ruse that people would think they were just written. I don't think Miley is THAT calculating. Then again I've NEVER understood the Twitter-war phenomenon, mainly because there's hardly anything you can say about me on any social media platform that would make me care. I'm funny that way.

You have to admit Miley has got people talking about her especially me. She's got older people offended by her image. Feminists are arguing back and forth about women's sexuality and slut shaming. She accomplished what acts like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Rhianna failed to do create genuine controversy. This is as old as Elvis Presley shaking hips on national tv.
