I remember watching this when it originally aired in 1980 I was 11 years old.Back then,I thought it was the coolest TV special ever (lol) but watching it now,I can see some flaws.

The live performances are great.Donna was a dazzling performer.However,the between-song skits aren't very interesting.

and how come there are no big-name guest stars? In 1980,Donna was the biggest female artist in America.Surely,they could have asked some big-name celebrities to appear on this? Barbara Streisand,for example.Michael Jackson,perhaps?

I'm pretty sure Robert Guillaume was kinda popular. He had a long running TV show (Benson) spun off from another show (Soap). And since when does Michael Jackson do TV (at least as an adult)? He said he didn't like doing the Jacksons Variety Show and Berry Gordy had a hard time convincing him to do the Motown 25 show. Mike did appear in a special with Diana Ross, but that's probably because she's Diana Ross. Back then lots of people had variety shows and specials, so it probably wasn't considered a big deal.

I just think she needed some big names those other three celebrities (appearing on the "Bad Girls" performance),I can't even remember their names....lol...they were B-list celebrities.
