King Crimson Set To Return http://dgmlive.com/news.htm?entry=4335
The 8th incarnation of King Crimson will be Gavin Harrison, Bill Rieflin, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Mel Collins, Jakko Jakszyk and Robert Fripp.
So... Adrian Belew is out and Levin is back. Bruford remains retired which is a big disappointment to me. Unless Jakko is a singer - I knly know him as an instrumentalist - it looks like this will be a vocal-free lineup, the only one they've had. But I'll be excited to hear what they have in mind.
I still remember the day in 1994 when my girlfriend showed up at the house with a copy of VROOOOOM! for me - the first rehearsals ofthe 90s lineup doing new songs. It was pre internet days and I had no idea they were even talking about getting back together. Now I have a year to get my hopes up.

You beat me to the punch. Heard about this today. Interesting lineup. Frippertronics is back!

It's sure to be a thing.
I saw him do Frippertronics in 1983 at Princeton University, a setup with two reel to reel machines feeding loops to each other. It was pretty powerful, and he gave one of the best lectures on the topic of rock music I've ever heard.
But nothing beat seeing the KC Discipline lineup at that same chamber music hall at PU in early 1982, and again in Berkeley later that summer. Those were two of the most mind-bending live shows I ever went to. Bill Bruford in his prime was one of my favorite drummer ever. | |

Kool, although, I'll miss Adrian and Bruford. But still good news! Calls for a head bobbin' groove....
