Having gotten into New Order last year in a big way (saw them in London...no Peter Hook, but still a a good show)....I'm now just getting into Depeche (late, I know!). Picked up the 81-85 and 86 to 98 Singles Collection, and the Remix album and loving what I hear so far. Just need to start saving the pennies to dip into theit back catalogue proper.
Any suggestions where to start? Blasphamous Rumours is my fave track so far... www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

1. Music For The Masses (My favorite by them) 2. Violator (The critic's favorite by them) 3. Some Great Reward 4. Black Celebration (Their least commercial sounding)
You can go in order after that. Speak & Spell is pretty much an Erasure album but with Dave Gahan on vocals. I wouldn't listen to that album without getting into Vince Clarke's other work.

Don't forget, too, that since they have been out for nearly 30 years, you can find a lot of their CDs in used bins very cheaply. Listen to samples on Amazon and pick your favorites! My favorite is "Songs of Faith & Devotion" (1993). The live concert and video ("Devotional") for its release is awesome too!

I saw them in Brooklyn NYC at the Barclay Center Friday night. It was a good show! They opened with "Welcome to My World" from the new album, Delta Machine, and played a few more songs from it, including "Heaven" and "The Child Inside" (Martin alone on stage) They played the classics/fan favorites: (not in correct order) - Black Celebration - Enjoy the Silence - Strange Love - Personal Jesus - I Feel You - Never Let Me Down - Just Can't Get Enough - Barrel of a Gun - The Pain that I'm Used To - Policy of Truth - Question of Time - Walking in My Shoes
Martin sang three solos, including "Home", which is my favorite DM song!
The energy was great, and I loved the use of the screens... "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

well. being a huge fan of the band, and seeing what track your fav is so far... I think Violator, Music for the Masses & Black Celebration you'll for sure like. My personal fav era is the 90's era of DM. The 3 amazing albums: Violator, Songs of Faith and Devotion, and Ultra. Also love the 00's. albums like Playing The Angel and their latest one Delta Machine are amazing, imo.

"Songs of Faith and Devotion" is an absolutely stunning album. I'd start with Black Celebration and work your way through the next few albums leading up to SoFD. I've seen the future, and boy it's rough...
