July 11, 2013

Link

Pearl Jam has just announced that they will release their tenth studio album, Lightning Bolt, on October 15.

The band revealed the good news on their website Thursday afternoon, posting a 41-second video that features footage of the guys working on the upcoming release in a recording studio. At the end of the clip, the album’s artwork and release date are revealed, along with the name of the record’s first single, “Mind Your Manners.”

Lightning Bolt’s artwork features a giant black and red eye with a lightning bolt in the center of it, along with two other bolts on either side of an antenna that sits on top of it.

July 25, 2013

Pearl Jam have announced a new app that will allow users to access music, news, merchandise and more. Pearl Jam Official, now featured as a free app on iTunes, includes a timeline detailing the band's career milestones. The app also serves as an extension of the band's Ten Club membership program.

"The app was created to serve all Pearl Jam fans, but it also allows our official Ten Club members to log into their membership accounts on-the go," says Tim Bieman, Pearl Jam's Ten Club manager.

I just saw them at Wrigley and they were great, 3 hour rain delay aside. Mind Your Manners and Lightning Bolt were particularly good. Prince could really learn a thing or 2 from their business model as well. People were lining up as early as 3am in 90+ degree heat just to buy a posters that cost $35. Crazy.

Pearl Jam has the creative control and freedom most bands can only dream about, not to mention their strong, trusting relationship with fans. Oh by the way, did ya get one of those posters?

I didn't get any of the posters. I had a friend in from out of town who got them, though. If you weren't willing to wait in long, hot lines they weren't really an option. I was not one of the willing. I'm impressed that so many people were, though. Is there any other band/artist that has gotten it so right in terms of their career and relationship with the fanbase?

I saw them at Wrigley too and saw that line earlier in the day. So crazy. But great show besides the rain delay. They played some obscure stuff which was cool and the new songs were very good. Eddie really knows how to work the crowd and you could tell how happy he was to be playing Wrigley. I hear the original plan before the rain delay was to play many more hits, and to be a much longer show. Too bad, but I still liked what we got.

I was impressed how well the fans around us took the delay...everyone chilled and had fun. No fights or bitching (stopping beer sales probably helped;). I was also impressed how many people stayed until the end. It sucked leaving tho as the brown line EL stops running at 2am and I had to walk home as cabs were totally overwhelmed. Small price for a great show.

Yea the t-shirts they were selling after the show had the full setlist on them. I was kind of gutted to know they were going to play Alive, Daughter, and Yellow Ledbetter (especially this one!). I almost would rather have not known. It was still great, though. Didnt know that about brown line. I figured the trains/bus/taxi/parking situations would suck anyway, so we parked up by Sheridian and Irving Park and just walked down. Wasn't too bad.
