Al B Sure! Appreciation Thread! I've had Nite & day since it came out in 1988 and still think it is a classic album. I've been running it for the past week like crazy and then I realized, I don't have his 2nd album. Any Al B Sure fans here? How's the second album? How does it compare to the first one? Is it still a mix of slow jamz and New Jack Swing Uptempos??
I love Al B and wish he was still doing music. Where's Kyle West??

I have his 1st & 3rd album, but never bought the 2nd one, but I know someone who has it. I have the maxi single for the Diana Ross duet, which also has the remix for Misunderstanding with Monie Love and the Al'l Justify Your Love remake, which is only a B-side. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Misunderstanding was a great track. How's the 3rd album? I guess I'll get around to that one in about 25 years since I'm just now working my way up to the 2nd one.

That is my jam! His debut album is one of the very few albums I can listen to without skipping a track. Rescue me and Off on your own girl are the business too!

The 2nd album is cool. It starts off with some really good slow jams and a remake of Hotel California which is musically pretty interesting. Later in the album you get some more uptempo songs. Personally, I only have his 1st and 2nd albums. The 2nd one is a more satisfying album as a whole but the better songs/singles are on the 1st.

Thanks for the review. The 2nd album seems to be hard to find online for some reason. Might need to hit up a used record store to find a copy. I read reviews on Amazon and they are mostly good but some people didn't like it but on another hand gave it higher praises than the first one.

Al B Sure is a cool dude. Is it me or did his vocals get a much better on his second album?

My favorite album tracks from Private Times...and the Whole 9!:

As for the 3rd album, Sexy Versus, the first two singles were definitely the cream of the crop:

Given my warped mind...I've always wanted to know why the right side of his face was never shown for the photo session of Private Times??? * Did he have a BIG AZZ ZIT that day??? When you have a deadline and a release date, you don't have time to wait, especially if WB is paying for it. * Curious minds want to know! Remember, this was release before Photoshop was around!!
