It was a great day in country music when Shania Twain announced her plans to begin working on a new album. The star recently confirmed she’s made great headway, and the album is coming along quickly and smoothly.
.
“I’m pretty much there with my songs,” she tells Rolling Stone. “I’m really just sitting on the fence in regards to a producer. So I’m listening to a lot of records, doing my homework there, and trying to determine who is the right match.”
.
The songstress is ensuring that each decision is the best, especially after such a long hiatus from record making.
.
Not only does Twain want her album to be chock-full of great music, she also wants it to show who she is now. “I’m different, I’ve evolved, and I want that to be reflected in the music. At the same time I don’t want to abandon the root of what I am,” she explains.
.
While fans can expect to have the same ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ songstress deep in the heart of the album, they may be surprised at the overall package. After all, eleven plus years is a big break, and Twain, now in her late forties, is further removed from her ‘Up’ years.
.
“There are probably less upbeat songs,” Twain divulges. “I would say it’s more half and half compared to what I would’ve done in the past, where I would’ve leaned more towards mostly uptempo songs. I still want to remain positive with my lyrics and stay in that mode with my music, because I enjoy uplifting myself, if you will, with my songs. But at the same time I’m going deeper, and I’m being more realistic with my point of view on things.”
.
Uptempo or not, all of Twain’s fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of this album, which they’ve been waiting a long time for. As her stint at Caesar’s Palace is quickly approaching, hopefully she’ll find the right producer soon — and get it on shelves and into fans’ hands.
