Paul McCartney's funky/soulful side Note: As usual it's Macca on all vocals and instruments, except Goodnight Tonight and Arrow Through Me (with Wings).

The live version of Coming Up was the one that was played on the radio, not the studio one in the video. I've always thought the background vocals on the studio version sound like Yoko Ono. I wonder if the Hey Ya video by Outkast was based on this video. I know the main influence was The Beatles' Ed Sullivan appearance. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

How are we going to forget the most soulful song he ever did:

I found that most rock fans prefer Rolling Stones. Makes sense that Paul brought the soulful side to The Beatles and of course that of Wings and his own material.

I'd love to see Sade's members' faces when they listen to this, written and produced years before they formed.
Macca is funky even when he's only checking his machine
D'angelo should've performed this funky gem instead of She Came In Through...but I don't think anybody could pull off that singing like Macca.

"Goodnight Tonight" I love the bass on this song.Even though this song isn't technically a disco song,I bet it was popular in the discos back then

What's your point? All of the Beatles, except George, have released entire albums of covers. A lot of The Beatles early albums were remakes too.
