Concerts You Can't Afford NOT To Go To This Year...

Okay, I've been a good girl and resisted the urge to go to any concerts this year... But...but...but I can't stand it anymore! eek I'm addicted to live music--music I wanna see live... Although I told myself I can't afford the addiction anymore... Just bought tix to see Steely Dan--the cheap seats--and I'm happy as a clam! (Why is a clam happy--never could figure that out?! hmm) So, what are the concerts you just can't afford NOT to see this year... priest

Funny you mention SD as this will be the first year in quite some time that I won't be going to see them when they come through town. They're doing the same show they did the last time through anyway.

Unless Jimi and Miles come back to earth and tour together, everything else I can easily avoid.
They are plenty of $20-$40 club shows around town featuring super-skilled musicians i'd rather support.

Well, this will actually be the first Steely Dan concert I've ever been to--so it may be old hat for you, but it is new for me... So did you see them before Donald Fagen put out his new album? Guess he won't be performing any of that material...but I don't care, even though I love that album... I just wanna hear the oldies live for the first time... Been a fan since the 70s though... I did see Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald, and Boz Skaggs perform together at a festival a few years ago and they were terrific together... cool BTW--paid $35.00 per seat for this show...which makes it highly affordable.

But the point of the thread is Who do You wanna see? What about those musicians around town? Names, please. smile

I have been to at least one concert a month since January (9 in all so far), including the free shows I've taken advantage of in NJ & NYC this summer... I LOVE LIVE MUSIC. dancing jig

The only ones I felt that I really HAD to see was the Tribute to Prince @ Carnegie Hall in March, and Bruno Mars in NJ in July.

I wish I could have attended one of the NPG shows at City Winery, but they aren't in my budget right now. shrug

I have a few more shows lined up, and hopefully more good things before year's end. biggrin

I love living in Austin because shows are really cheap to attend and most of the venues are intimate aside from the major festivals. I think I barely almost didn't get a chance to see Beyonce in both July and December because money is really funny since undergrad is over.

The last concert I paid for was Fiona Apple last year. I have not paid to see anyone this year so far. I might see her again when she comes back in Oct. Her show was about 50 bucks so not so bad. I saw a couple of free shows this year though.
