D’Angelo was forced to cancel a concert this week at Chicago's House of Blues "due to a medical emergency."

A statement from Live Nation revealed the singer "expresses his sincere regret due to this unfortunate circumstance," according to the Chicago Tribune.

It's unknown what the D'Angelo is suffering from as he also axed tonight's concerts in Minneapolis and Saturday's performance at the Outside Lands Festival in San Diego. Last week, the singer cancelled shows in New York and Maryland for the undisclosed illness, which actually caused him to be briefly hospitalized, according to a Facebook post from the Merriweather Post Pavilion. His rep confirmed, "It's serious, but he should be OK," the Tribune reported.

In related news, the singer has more dates on his schedule later this month and through September, beginning at the Chastain Park Amphitheatre in Atlanta on August 28.

I hope he gets better because I was VERY disappointed when he did not come out saturday

He actually cancelled his shows in Chicago over two weeks ago. I wonder what's really going on.

Yeah, I'm disappointed, too. Plus, I can't get a refund on my plane tickets, and the hotel I was staying at, I got it at an unpublished price. So, no refund for me. I hope he gets better, but I'm annoyed about the money I shelled out to fly down to San Diego. (His rep confirmed, "It's serious, but he should be OK), this quote makes me very nervous.

Also, remember when they said, "Really Love" would be dropping on the 4th of July ? These cancel concert dates and the no show of the single, make me very nervous.........

Maybe he is scared/ mentally depressed now that the release of the album (and all the pressure that comes with that!) is coming so close? He seems to be a thinker, I think he could possibly suffer from anxiety problems or panick attacks or something like that. But maybe I am way off...

Let's just hope that he will be OK soon, and that the album will finally be released.

For some reason that's the first thing I thought too...some kind of nervous breakdown or depression maybe? I hope he gets the help he needs.

The carefully worded response from his rep was less than encouraging. It was almost ominous, in fact. I wonder if he contracted a bug or there's something unforeseen going on.

I have a very bad feeling about this.

What technically happend to D'Angelo?

There was alleged drug use. But, how bad? Was there more? Was he treated for depression or any other sort of mood disorder? He often seems on the brink of going back to somewhere not good, and I really hope he can keep his head above water.

D'angelo went through a deep depression after he reached mega stardom as a sex symbol. He felt he wasn't being recognized as a real artist anymore. He regretted doing the "How Does it feel" video. Because all people wanted him to do after is take off his shirt. Instead of just being an artist. It scared him half to death! He already suffered with low self esteem. He also had substance abuse problems, that triggered back after his success. He went into hiding in a drug den of cocaine & harder drugs. He became suicidal ,overdosed, got into a fight with a woman at a gas station,ran his car off the road in a horrible near death accident, solicited an uncover officer for oral sex, went into numerous rehab centers & finally beat his habit. Now this horrible medical condition! I hope he makes it through it. He is one of my favorite artist!

This is sad. I hope he makes a full recovery.

For ONCE, Brother Questlove, also known as Mouth Almighty and Tongue Everlasting, i.e. the man who talks more shit than your 70 year granny at Bingo night, has kept his trap shut.
