MIGUEL IS A NO TALENT HACK

OK - I'm a really open minded music lover but I have to get my hater on. This is one corny ass act. Why they keep comparing him to Prince is beyond me. He sucked on Saturday night live. He almost killed a girl trying to be cool on stage. His hair is a joke. His ad-libbing on every song is the same suckish thing over and over. I can't stand this cat. I'm counting down until this fifteen minutes is over. I don't know him personally obviously so this is not an attack on him personally but what I know about him already I don't like. Black people are judgemental? Nobody gives a f*** what you think Miguel! Miguel sucks in every conceivable way and anyone who likes this trash music and this phony ass persona and thinks this ass can hold a candle to Prince needs therapy. I was a Janelle Monae fan but now I hve to question her ear after hearing that he's going to be on her album. She musta lost a bet. I had to get that off my chest. The music business is doomed. Miguel is utter corn filled crap! I don't care what anyone says, he sucks and he's no Prince. Not now not ever!

Good call dude - another one I don't get. But at least you could stomach him as a semi-decent songwriter.

I have to admit, I really liked the latest album. And, I didn't think I would, as I usually don't like that sort of "modern" production. But, it just worked for me. Have only seen him live when he opened for Jennifer Hudson a couple of years ago (before the latest album) and his set was about 10 minutes - 2 songs. Didn't leave much of an impression.

On SNL, he was doing all these half-assed Prince moves and poses. If you are going to take on a Prince like persona then you have to own it 100% otherwise you come off looking embarrassed.

Yeah he SUCKS! Hate that song Adorn. Too many of the 'new' artists today have no real original talent.

I had to look him up and see ho he is and what he sings. I see he's the dude that did the failed split jump kick or whatever it was at the Billborad Awards. I don't know much about him to judge his talent, but they play that "Aodrn" song like crazy down here which is pretty annoying because I hate it as well.

I know I don't like him neither ( he and frank ocean are way overrated at least miguel can sing better live though frank can't hold a note ) but I can't believe Janelle blessed him with a featuring.. he didn't deserve it mad but I heard that song she has with him is very good because she wrote it and he did have nothing to do with it probably... lol

Not sure why Miguel is drawing so much hate. First of all, it's not his fault that other people want to compare him to Prince. Of course he is not Prince!

I haven't seen Miguel live, but I like the few songs of his I have heard (including "Adorn") and I thought he was very good on the BET Awards. Yes, Miguel is obviously being packed as a teen idol, and he should probably try to fight that, but that doesn't mean he is a "hack".

By the way, I love John Legend and am going to see him in concert in NYC in October. Really surprised he is getting dissed here as well.

doesn't seem to be presented as a teen idol to me...is he? more bruno mars is presented like a teen idol but not miguel as far as I know.adorn was a nice track but it was basically marvin gaye's sexual healing so probably it's part of the reason why it was good. lol ..anyway I'm not a big fan at all of traditional R&B so maybe that's part of the reason why I don't like him , john legend, frank ocean etc very much..I listen to some songs but entire albums i just can't...for personal taste in general..

I don't think the comment about him being marketed to "teens" is correct.

Miguel has been more a part of the "indie soul" scene along with Frank Ocean and The Weeknd. Him doing a duet with Mariah Carey was something many couldn't have predicted him doing (at least not at this point of his career). Maybe they will attempt to cross over with the next record.

He's solid IMO. His first album was good but didn't have much longevity. He's not close to the most or even that corny. Now, Bruno Mars is freakin crony. His lyrics, the whole outdated look etc. he's just so cheesy it makes me want to puke. I do like Liquor Store Blues though.

indeed you're right miguel, frank ocean, janelle monae were and still are all linked as similar artists even though I find her different from the other 2...she's way less R&B than the other 2...

I grew up on traditional R&B. Miguel and Frank Ocean are NOT traditional R&B. They are more of Alternative R&B artists, not traditional.

I can't stand his recent look (like in the video for treasure etc).. it was way better in the liquor store blues days when he had the kinda bruce springsteen's look..

you're right they aren't ..it's modern R&B but still too much R&B for my taste...

I agree with this comment. Miguel is actually pushing R&B music beyond that cookie cutter boring ass simplistic chord progession shit that's all over radio. It sounds like the OP doesn't like his look more so than anything else. His performance on SNL was interesting. I didn't like what he did with the song, but I give him props for trying something new. The reason why everyone keeps talking about him is because he put out one of the BEST albums. I think you people should check out more of his stuff, I have a feeling he will be around for a while. He's an amazing writer.

Or you can listen to babyface, boyzIImen, R. Kelly, and all that other boring shit. I'm glad we have brothers like Frank, the weeknd, cocaine 80's, bilal and Miguel who is at least attempting to try something fresh. This ain't 1991 R&B.
