Solange Knowles Rumored To Play AAliyah In Upcoming Biopic?

Where is Drake?

Solange Set To Play Aaliyah In New Film

Via All Hip Hop reports:

Aaliyah’s status has almost reached the coveted mythic status these days. She has people like Drake and Chris Brown singing with her even thought she’s not here physically. DMX stays dissing those dudes. Timbaland is saying its not too late to apologize even thought he knows he’s the one that needs to be putting out new Baby Girl.

OH…here’s something else to rile up the fans of the one and only Aaliyah.

There is a crazy rumor that Solange has landed the role to play Aaliyah an upcoming biopic. Now, the rumor is Solange went out for the role earlier in the month and ended up getting it this week. She reportedly will be working with the same people that did the movie “Think Like A Man.”

I don’t know. I didn’t even know Solange was any sort of actress. But, she almost never has her hair straight like Aaliyah did. This is as close to Aaliyah as could see with Solange.

Drake is probably sobbing in Marvin’s Room because he wasn’t offered this role. We’re not too sure about this casting, can she really play the side swept bang? Do you think Solo can pull off portraying the late great Aaliyah in an autobiographical film?

I'm not sure what an Aaliyah movie would be about. She wasn't out that long, but there was La Bamba in the 1980's, and Ritchie Valens' career was shorter than hers.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

'94-'01 was her career. 8yrs is enough material for a movie. Plus, the cast of characters she aassociated with will probably give enough material (R. Kelly marriage controversy, Damon Dash, Faatima, Missy, Timbaland, Genuwine, Kadijah Jones, Paris Hilton).

Honestly, I wish they'd let this child rest in peace. What will be left out or glamorized. It will be hard to watch the plane go down at the end. I don't want to see it. And Solange as Aaliyah--NO!. She doesen't have that mysterious sexuality Aaliyah had. But then again Little Mama surprised me playing Left Eye with the preview of the TLC biopic.

Anyways, RIP Aaliyah.

Thank You San Alejo for getting rid of my enemies. :-0

Funnily enough I was thinking of this today, and if there ever was an Aaliyah movie what would happen with the R.Kelly scenario, that was perhaps her only controversy, which is really R.Kelly's controversy. He wouldn't allow a movie about that, and her Mother wouldn't either... (Aaliyah's father died last winter). I think a documentary would perhaps be nice, the BET tribute was a let down, they didn't need to include full music videos for an hour program.

Can't imagine the film to be interesting - apart from the R Kelly marriage - she lived her life scandal free.

She's several years older now than Aaliyah was when she passed.

Age has never stopped someone from making a movie. Jimmy Stewart was almost 50 when he played Charles Lindbergh, who was in his 20's in the time period the film (Spirit Of St. Louis) takes place. Andre 3000 is older than when Jimi Hendrix died. In the TV show Beverly Hills 90210, some of the actors who were playing teenagers were over 20.
