Harry Belafonte is filled with so much wisdom and insight. Its mindblowing that current artists would attack such a legendary and well respected cultural figure. I dont think his previous comments on Jay Z were disrespectful or negative because his comments apply to a much bigger issue outside of Jay Z specifically. Its time for all this sugar coating and ass kissing to stop especially with REAL issues. This is not just a problem for Jay Z but for current celebrities in general. The stars of today (as a majority) lack the desire to be informed socially and to make social changes. No one is saying they have to be super heroes but I think if you are put in a high position where you can at least bring awareness to a problem or certain issues then why not? Its seems everything is about money for these people and thats okay I guess I just think its phoney how they try to come off so "political" when they really arent. Being socially conscious is not making a tribute song or giving a shout out its about REALLY bringing awareness through programs, charities etc. These celebrities dont care about that and Belafonte didnt say anything that wasnt true.
