First review of "Electric", the new Pet Shop Boys album

The online magazine The Quietus has published the first review of the upcoming Pet Shop Boys album. According to the magazine, it's an excellent record. And I believe it!

This is the link to the review.

By the way, the cover artwork, as usual with the boys, is awesome.

I'm happy to hear the album is mostly upbeat and not a sleeper like the last one but I hope it sounds 80s pop/new wave and not techno.....

Will there be an "extra tracks" edition of this release, as there have been of most of the other PSB CDs?

I really hope this new venture works out well for them; they've lasted a long time!

leaked....

2013 release from the veteran British Synthpop duo. Electric features eight new Pet Shop Boys songs, plus a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s anti-war track “Last to Die.” Stuart Price, best known for his work with Madonna and The Killers, produced the album, which band members Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe call “banging.” “Electric is very much set on the dance floor,” they said in a statement. “The album often evolves as a response to our previous album and, whereas Elysium had a reflective mood, Electric is pretty banging!” Producer Stuart Price said the album’s sound was developed via “various techniques between old school synth and drum machine programming and new school computer mangling.” “Thursday” features British rapper Example.

Reviews:

- …”there s more than enough here to prove that, left to their own devices, they still can” Classic Pop
- “Electric is a terrific return to form …loaded with big, adrenaline-stimulating dance tunes and deliciously droll, authentically English lyrics” Daily Telegraph
- …”disreputably banging as you might expect, spinning your head round its axis of amyl with a ferocious robo-house mid-section” NME
- “Best of all indeed one of their best ever Love Is A Bourgeois Construct … With Electric, Pet Shop Boys have succeeded spectacularly” Q
- “Electric shows Tennant and Lowe plugging back into the dancefloor that has always fired them up” Mojo

Track List:

1. Axis
2. Bolshy
3. Love Is A Bourgeois Construct
4. Fluorescent
5. Inside A Dream
6. The Last To Die
7. Shouting In The Evening
8. Thursday
9. Vocal

Its DIVINE, its like a mesh between Introspecttive and Rentless. The Springstein cover works amazingly well.

I'm very old school with these things, so I'll wait until it's published in Spain. Still, I'm very happy to read all the positive reviews, both from magazines and from orgers!

Can't wait to listen to the so-called "Cucharachas Dub" (I guess they mean "cucarachas"?)

Ah, this Japan CDs, always something special on them...

The album is great. I love the first four songs. It goes down a bit for me in the middle section, but goes up again with "Thursday" and "Vocal". "Vocal" reminds me a bit of "It's Alright" from Introspective.

By the way, it seems that the album is selling quite a lot, and is obtaining very good critics too. I'm glad for them!
