Mick Jagger is 70

Mick Jagger turns 70 tomorrow. Its amazing for him to reach this milestone. I think he has always been one of the most iconic singers of the past century and shows no sign of slowing down after 51 years as a lead singer. Mick is incredible, how he has kept the Rolling Stones going and writing some of the greatest songs of all time.

Who else really likes the Rolling Stones. They had so many great songs and albums back in the day. Classics like Satisfaction, Jumping Jack flash, Sympathy for the Devil, Street fighting man, U can't always get waht you want, Let it bleed, Honky Tonk Women, Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Tumbling Dice, its only rock and roll, Miss You and so many more.

Who else is a big fan of him, and his influences, I know Prince has taken some of Mick's cocksure strut and front man presence.

Happy Birthday ol Rubber lips! lol

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Congratulations to Miick!

He's been able to sustain his popularity for 50 years! Not only is he a great songwriter, but he's a very smart business man too.

Many happy returns Mick.

I didn't appreciate him and the Stones until I was older.

Goddess in the Doorway was also amazing. I love his solo work. Keith's solo work is pretty good too.

Happy B-day, Sir Mick! Does anyone realize how silly that sounds? Why him and not the others? Just because he's the singer doesn't mean he's more important than the rest!
Let's hear it for Charlie! Keith! Ronnie! Bill! Mick Taylor!
And RIP Brian Jones and last but not least... Ian "Stu" Stewart woot! headbang clapping dancing jig
(Where's RDHull when you need him...)

I'm not a big fan of the music but I love his musical attitude.

I do like some of the music though.

Miles

Definitely in the top three or five greatest rock frontmen.

I just love how he never seems to give a damn how stupid and absurd he looks, as he prances around the stage in his own unique manner. He makes his own ridiculousness into a kind of cool by not caring about it.

Also love watching Keef watching Mick, as Keef occasionally shakes his head or pulls a face, as if in amazement at Mick's latest onstage antics and peacock strutting, probably thinking, 'God, what a H!TKJ' (will subsitute 'fool' here), 'How has he got away with this shtick for so long?' cool biggrin

Totally agree, but just chose to mention Sir Michael as its his birthday. I am going to get just as ecstatic when Keef hits the milestone in December.

Have you read "Life" the book is very great, I got it out of the Library but liked so much of it in the first two chapters, I put it down and bought a copy of it. He lets roll his true feelings about Mick his best mate and Mick the bitch. Apparently she was not amused.

The Biography is great, I thought it would be some hazy drug concocted memoirs and rants about groupies and songs, but its not, he really bares his soul and I love th honesty.

Am reading the Mick Jagger one by Philip Norman and enjoying it a lot, although he focusses a lot on Mick's lips and the Mars Bar incident a lot!!

I absolutely love the Stones. I initially started listening to the 1973-1997 records coz that's all you could get in late-90s Zimbabwe. I had heard Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street when I was briefly in South Africa. But apart from the Hot Rocks tracks, I only really heard the Sixties stuff when I came to London.

So the sixites Stones takes me back to my early days in London while the 1973-1989 stuff reminds me of my mum and my days in Zimbabwe, funnily enough.
