Didn't they already attempt to make a "comeback" awhile back? hmmm It never really seems to work out for them.

Their resurgence is now assured mostly because of the visionary leadership of L.A. Reid! He has that golden touch. wink

I think I'm most surprised by the headline of them reuniting with LA more than anything else. Didn't they sue him, Pebbles and LaFace Records years ago?

TLC Preps New Album in October

July 25, 2013

Nearly 11 years after their last studio album, 3D, TLC is prepping a massive comeback that will include new music, a VH1 biopic and live performances that will include "special guest" Lil Mama temporarily filling the shoes of the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes.

Current members Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas made the announcements alongside manager Bill Diggins and VH1’s Rick Krim at a press conference Thursday morning in New York.

Part of the resurgence includes the news that TLC has resigned with mentor L.A. Reid and Epic Records/LaFace, and will release an as-yet-untitled compilation Oct. 15 featuring the group’s hits as well as a collection of new songs. Two tracks have already been penned — "Meant To Be," written by Ne-Yo, and "Posh Life," written by Lady Gaga and longtime TLC collaborator Dallas Austin. Other new songs and collaborations are in the works, the group added, including some studio time (and a likely live show) with Drake, and some hoped-for further pairings with J. Cole, who recruited T-Boz and Chilli for current single "Crooked Smile."

Diggins, TLC’s manager since 1998, told Billboard the band has been seeking new music since November 2012 and the response from the industry has been overwhelming. Added T-Boz, "Not one artist has said no, and that’s amazing and a blessing... You know, we’ve been gone for a minute. But to see everyone coming to us like, ‘Yo! We heard y’all working, I gotta be down!’ That’s amazing."

TLC accumulated ten top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including four No. 1s ("Waterfalls,” “Creep,” “No Scrubs” and “Unpretty”), a No. 1 album (“FanMail”) and another that still holds the record for top-selling album by a female group in the U.S. (CrazySexyCool, with domestic sales of 11 million and 23 million worldwide.)

TLC should just get on board one of those R&B old skool tours where you pay $35 to see 6 different bands. They could go on tour with No Doubt and several other acts nobody cares about anymore.

This should be interesting, but somehow I'm not interested: at this stage of the game I would hope that whatever music they choose to take on now would be a re-invention of themselves where theyshow their evolution as middle aged women. I can never really get into the older acts (that are basically my age or older) trying to keep up with young chart-toppers (for some reason Toni Braxton's last record comes to mind). Anyhoo....good luck to 'em... shrug

Agreed. I can barely relate to the music they recorded when they were my age. I could use some grown folks R&B from my 90s bands.

I love Left-Eye, but honestly beside a rap here and there, she wasn't much of a presence content wise. She never sang, so if there was no rap on the track she wasn't on it. I say replace her with a quality rapper who can also contribute to vocals (they seem to come a dime a dozen nowadays) and they can come back. There is the question of their age though. They ain't as young as they used to be and youthfulness is part of that groups aesthetic.

See, I truly agree with you. They could have moved on without her. I love her but she was an accent to the group. Chilli is the one I never really connected with, although I do love her voice.

I think Left-Eye was TLC's most animated member.Visually, she was probably the most interesting member.Who could ever forget her condom eye patch? lol
