Ciara: Mission Accomplished! 2013's Janet!

Yes she has been written off more then once, but the ever resilient Ciara just wouldn't go without a fight, delivering probably THE soundtrack of the summer. With a few strong television performances under her belt and an album that just won't quit, she'll be back in the public's good graces after tracks like this become inescapable:

Not bad. The mechanical production is interesting and the vocal, on point. I still think "Love, Sex and Magic" should have been BIGGER, but she gets an "B+" for effort from me for persistence alone. She's not bad as compared with MOST of the shitty no-talents that are out there today; thin voice, but presents fairly well. It still sounds a lot like what's out there on the radio today, but it's the current trend and I can't fault her for jumpin' on as opposed to "off" the bandwagon. smile Sorry 'bout the edits. I'm at work and it's insane on these phones! :-O

Not bad. A return somewhat to the style of OH! from her debut album.

With the success of Body Party and a promising single here she may

put out a decent album after all unlike her last two.

Her CD debuted at #2, which is GREAT for her. If not for JIGGA, she would have been #1. Odd that her label decided to drop her new disc the same day as Jay Z, but, she's still #2, which is nothing to sneeze at.

Good job Ciara! Her persistence and hardwork is paying off. Love I'm Out, DUI and Body Party. Still got the 90's vibe (in a good way)

Indeed, but the new album sold an anemic 58,000 copies in its first week, which places her firmly in the failure zone. Without a smash lead single to bolster sales, I don't foresee greater numbers than those.

Dayum!! 58,000 copies?? I think that's only slightly more than her last CD sold in its first week.Looks like another flop for her.

actually Ciara release date had been set months ago. JAY Z decided to rush release his project for the summer dates with JT.

The last album did 37,000 copies and debuted outside the Top 40, so it's an improvement. Thought the album might not eventually be successful it is a rebound. I think she'll have a few hits though which is important for round 6, which she'll definitely get. Her "live" performances have improved as well. She's singing more and learned a big lesson from Beyonce; if you can't do it have your back-up carry the slack.

I really wish people would get off the whole SALES nonsense. ITS OVER people, the days when music sold like that are gone, the bubble burst back in the days of the Backstreet Boys and Britney selling a million a day. If you can sell 100,000 OVERALL not just in a week, take it and fucking run, that to me is gonna be the new HIT album, we always say labels are stuck in their thinking WELL the public is really stuck when i see posts about albums sold in a week, are u nuts? that shit is over and done with. People dont even buy albums anymore for the most part, the hear a snippet they buy a song if you are lucky etc... thats where the industry is now, stop thinking everything is gonna sell 200,000 in a week, stop smoking already.

thumbs up! I agree. With her successful performances, "Body Party" being a top 10 hit on the R&B chart, a #1 club hit and rising on the Hot 100 chart, and the album's #2 status, this era of CiCi is hardly a flop, especially considering the underperformance of her last couple of CDs.

I bought it today. It is definitely an improvement over her last two

cds which i didn't even bother. I sure as hell hope she doesn't mess

her momentum up by releasing I'm Out which she may have based on

some of her recent tv performances. It's the album opening track featuring

Nicki Manaj and it is probably one of the worst songs i've heard this year. All Nicki does is curse and say shit that just doesn't even make sense. She's the female Lil Wayne. It sounds more like a Nicki song featuring Ciara. Read My Lips, Super Turnt Up, and Overdose are sure fire hits if

she and her label make the right call.

I keep hearing good things about these tracks as well. I'm no Nicki fan either, so that I'm Out isn't a favorite of mine.

Read My Lips is a sweet uptempo Janetesque song like Escapade.

Ciara Turns to Groupon For Album Sales, Offers CD Bundle Deal

Ciara is looking to drive sales around her recently released fifth studio album, Ciara. The set debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart moving a total of 59,000 copies within its first week of release. The sales figures is a huge improvement over her 2010 opus, Basic Instinct, which debuted and peaked at No.44. with 37,000 in sales. Unfortunately, Ciara has since slipped on the charts after not being able to maintain record sales.

In an effort to boost sales, the Grammy winner has teamed with discount outlet Groupon to offer a 2-CD bundle package, which includes the 'Ciara' album and 'The Very Best of Ciara' playlist. 'Ciara' features collaborations with Nicki Minaj and Future and is lead by the singles "Body Party" and "I'm Out" while 'The Very Best of Ciara' includes 14 of Ciara's hits ("Goodies," "Promise," "Like a Boy," and more).

Visit Groupon for more details.

Truth is people only care about sales if it's an artist they like or one

whom they dislike flops. Now if it's an artist that they like and it's not

successful then sales don't matter because nobody's selling anyway. lol

Ciara hasn't delivered a hit album since 2006. Her flopping in 2013 was a foregone conclusion.
