The Church- Shadow Cabinet

One of the best songs from the church. Taken from one their best albums(IMO),

Remote Luxury(1984).

Now chased by the shapes of your vows
Look at the things she allows
Junction fever must have closed down the rail
The gluttunous wind keeps on nibbling the sails
Queueing in the ruins in the wake of the gale it's
Harmony I say

Hear the difference between close and near
The way oaths and oafs interfere
Bliss comes first as a jangling flood
Pillow from the old country arrives with a thud
That night she drinks ceremony and mud it's
Happening I say

Must be thirsty, drink, drink, sink, forget
Must be empty inside the shadow cabinet

She offered her chaos to me
Proffered herself languidly
The eldritch bitch must have muddled her spells
Tinges of Persia, I hope that it sells
Chemical nuptials and ringing the bells
It's heavenly I say

Must be thirsty, drink, drink, sink, forget
Must be empty inside the shadow cabinet

Then one winter morning you walk through the trees
But they cut them all down for the factories
Made this pretty cabinet and gave you the keys
It's hardly used I think

Shadow Cabinet

^And that's what musical creativity and expression is all about. Ya feel me?

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

I'm unfamiliar with this album, but this song reminds me of the sound that surfaced on "Heyday" afterwards, which is a great album. Love The Church's 80's work, seemed to drift off into obscurity after "Gold Afternoon Fix" though

We're here, might as well get into it.

Actually i think Remote luxury is made up of 2 ep releases(which i didn't know). It was released in 1984 but I'm not familiar with the ep's that the songs are taken from.

The 90's are the time that i kinda forgot about them so your right about them kinda drifting into obscurity after Gold Afternoon Fix. Especially here in the US. Shame though because their 80's and 90's catalogue is strong. What little that ive heard of their 2000 and onward period sounds pretty good. I just wish that they had less of the dreamy, psychedelic, alternative sound and developed a little more fire under their asses. Either way, they're a good band.

Anyway here's a few more.

I think i posted this song before but oh well, its a cool song

When you were mine(the Blurred Crusade)1982

Myrrh(heyday)1986

Dropping Names(Seance)1983
