iTunes match questions I'm thinking of getting the iTunes Match but have a few questions first.
1. I have Snow Leopard on my Mac, so would that be OK to run Match?, or do I need a newer version of the Mac OSX. Although I think due to the iMac hardware I can't upgrade to a higher version unless I buy new RAM, graphics card etc.
2. I have some music from old cassette tapes etc. (for example Roger's The Saga Continues) would it get upgraded to the digital iTunes version of the album or does it just match songs from CDs & previous iTunes/Amazon mp3 purchases?. Also as another example how would iTunes match work with the Lovesexy CD (the one which isn't tracked), would it still recognise it?
3. Is there a way to run a test on songs to see if they match, or can that only be done if you subscribe to iTunes match?
4. If I added the original version of the 'Bad' album to iTunes, would it match it with the Bad 25 or the Special edition version?. Was wondering how it deals with the different remasters available for albums like 'Thriller' etc.
5. Is iTunes Match really worth it? and what is the success rate for its matches (for CD/Vinyl/Cassettes/mp3 etc.) and can you decide if you can have the clean/normal versions of certain songs.
Thanks

I have it and its great for me because I don't have to store all that on my harddrive. And yes, it's suppose to upgrade the file although I can't say I've noticed. If it's not sure what file to match to itwill give you choices to pick. All you need is this:

OK Thanks. The cloud storage aspect is a good selling point. Being able to upgrade songs to higher quality is of most interest to me, had a look on google about how it works and it said that there's like a digital fingerprint from CDs it recognises for songs, but not too sure how it would work with cassettes/vinyl MP3's?. Will try and find out abit more about it before subscribing I think but seems like my Mac will work fine with it. | |
