I've been thinking about the ways in which Paddy will release this. You know, I'm a vinyl fan, and I think Paddy could make some money if he released the album in vinyl. There's a reasonably large group of Prefab followers that would buy everything Paddy published. It may be profitable for him. But who knows, he didn't publish a vinyl version of the last album, so...

It also intrigues me when this album was composed and recorded. It seems to be a huge improvement in relation to The Gunman And Other Stories, it may even be better than Andromeda Heights... Let's hope Paddy explains it, because the new songs may actually date from the early 90's...

I've finally heard the album and it's very very good.

Every song is top notch, great lyrics, melodies and hooks. it's got that romantic yearning feel Paddy does so well. It's a beautiful album.

The best album I've heard this in years. This is a classic. No standouts as each song is great.

I love this album.

I totally agree. I've listened to seven songs, and they are all fantastic. I'm a huge fan of Paddy, and listening to his wonderful music again almost moves me to tears. If I had to choose one song, I'd go for "The Best Jewel Thief In The World"; but, like you say, each song is great.

For those interested, the whole album is in Youtube now. It'll be available for purchase on October the 7th, as download, CD and vinyl (I'm yearning to buy a Prefab Sprout vinyl again!).

This is The best album I've heard in years. I would say it's as good as From Langley Park and Let's Change The world with Music. Probably not quite as good as Steve McQueen, but that is one of the greatest albums ever made.

A truly remarkable work. This seals the deal for me Paddy Macloon is one of the greatest pop song writers ever. A truly under appreciated talent.

Prefab Sprout are second only to The Beatles when your talking about British artists. I would put them ahead of The Smiths, The Cure, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Roxy Music.

I really hope this album is a success. It deserves to be.

I agree with all of the above, it's the first album in a while that I've loved all the way through!

Having heard the DIY demos, I was kinda hoping some of the instrumentation would be altered before the official product arrives--although that seems to be less likely as the official date draws near. But hey, I'll take it as it is------I'll take Paddy's demos over most folks' finished productions!!!

I agree with Prefab Sprout being only behind The Beatles when talking about British artists. I'd only have my doubts regarding The Kinks. Mr. Ray Davies is also an awesome pop composer, and I'd put them side by side with Lennon-McCartney and Paddy.

Agreed! Also, listening to demos just leaves the song as it is, the lack of arrangements forces the song to be brilliant, because nothing is hiding it, the melody is naked and no polished production can hide the weaknesses. That said, it'd be great to have some Neil or some Wendy, but hey, I love the demos too!

I think my favorites now are Jewel Thief, Billy, List of Impossible Things and Songs of Danny Galway...but again, I love the whole album....

I'm sure Paddy has enough tunes in the vault to keep this up, if he wants--- a new album every two or three years...

It's strange that there's something very similar to a press release that states that the songs have been composed and recorded during the last year. That surprises me, because the quality of the album puts it up there with the golden years of the 80's-early 90's, so I thought these were older compositions...

Anyway, my guess is that these are older songs that have probably been reworked recently. Also because of Paddy's voice, he sounds younger than, for example, in the 2006 reworking of Steve McQueen.

It's so hard to pick a favourite.

I think I would have to go with Billy, Best Jewel Thief or Mysterious.

Not one song I don't consider great, The Dreamer is the quiet one of the bunch, but that's starting with each listen to stand out more and more.

Yeah, I was just reading that these are fairly recent...that's actually encouraging, because I figured because of his health, he couldn't do much recording (or re-recording)...but you're right , I thought that the voice sounded like younger Paddy....

The first interview leaves the mistery of Paddy's voice sounding so young unresolved. He says the album was recorded very recently, but to my ears the voice sounds like 90's Paddy...

Anyway, there's only one month and a half left! I've read that there'll be CD, vinyl AND a boxset. I've no idea of the contents of the boxset, but I'm going to buy this in every possible format! lol
