Aqua ~ Barbie Girl

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

hehe, not afraid to admit that I did like that back in the days smile

as an add-on-bonus, here's the cover of Ben l'Onlce Soul, I played his version for hours in an endless loop when his CD came out lol

couldn't find the full studio version, but a the intro starts in this clip at 1:07

here's a live version however

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

true story: when Ben l'Oncls Souls CD came out with this retro looking cover, I played songs like Barbie Girl, Crazy or Seven Nation Army to my wife and told her that this was an old soul hero who originally wrote and recorded many songs in the 60s and 70s, that have been hits for other artists over the years

not only did she believe me, she even claimed that she already knew that those songs were covers and that she heard most of them years ago eek

gotcha smile

I didn't know someone remade this song.

Ha, yeah I remember this song. Wasn't there some unnecessary controversy about the song? hmmm

I've never heard any of their other songs.

Though this was a novelty hit record I remember the controversy that the guy in the record sounded too old to be partying with 'Barbie' also Mattel the toy manufacturer thought the song hurt the 'Barbie brand'.
