Paula Patton was "dancing with Molly" or something.

Yeah seriously....was she high?? She seemed so weird to me. What was that about???

Was she? HELLZ YES.

The fellas were trying to cover for her. When they repeat it, watch that segment again.

I thought she was gonna bite Boris on the ass for a second there. lol

I'd hate to see Nicole beat her down in the middle of the show.

She was either on E, tequila or a combination of the two. She was definitely on something mood enhancing.

Probably "I wonder how much this divorce is gonna cost me?" lol

Best dressed: Gabrielle Douglas

Best DRESS: Megan Goode!

I think I see why she married a preacher. She probably figured if she's gonna hear "Good God" "Lawd" "Sweet Jesus" "Lord have mercy" and "Oh my God" all of the time, she may as well get something out of it.

I have to say that Janelle Monae did a good job. She was the best performance, and looks like she stepped up her game a bit.

The Reggae performance was overshadowed by too much shouting. They were definitely missing Sean Paul.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion

but I think the quality complaints are either from haters doing their thing

or people who were not in a very nice of state mind they were watching.

I have evaluated 100s of live music and live TV performances for

more than 30 years.

I have chosen live music performers to perform at venues

at 2 large universities where I have received feedback about those performances,

positive and negative, from audience members with high standards

for entertainment.

I have competed in music performance contests

in multiple types of music and I have earned 1st place awards

both as a solo performer and as part of several different large scale bands.

In all honesty and accuracy, this show deserves an A+

for both the content and the overall visual presentation.

Even the after-the-show party was a top quality mix of

comedy and class.

The 2013 awards show is an A+ combination of top quality

old and new music from high profile and low profile performers,

comedy, awards presentation, live performance skills, social responsibility

and role models (example: the complete explanation of the Humanitarian

award for Dwayne Wade), and class.

And, most importantly and most of all,

the sexiest ladies on basic cable (or at a least tie with Bravo).

If you have not watched it yet do what you gotta do watch

the repeat broadcast or the BET website/You Tube highlights.

You'll be glad you did.

I respect everything u say.....I honestly do

this is the thing

you can't utter profanity on a show (rather is BET or any other program)

then receive an award, get on stage and say I LIKE TO THANK GOD

that's not gone cut it.....that's not going to work

everything, everything starts w/the quality of the music or the lack thereof

not the visual effects or the technoligy, but the authenticity, where everything isn't being pushed or comes across contrived......

I've also watched how things have evolved over the past 27 years

and I'm far from being a hater.....but I also believe in high standards that bring out the best in all of us

see, the reason these shows are trying to bring the whole ball of wax (the old and the new, the social commentary, and the comedy)....

is because they know the music is not as good or compelling as it once was.....

Charlie Wilson knows the deal, but he's not going to say it

a couple of years ago, I think it was either the 2010 bet awards show or the 2011 version

I saw BET CEO Debra Lee

I saw here sitting in the audience, and the expression she gave to what she was witnessing told me everything I need to know

I saw sadness in her eyes, as if she was asking herself how did it all come to this

what's the saying, actions speak louder than words.....

That's definitely live. On the first song "You Are," you can hear some of the distortion in the mic when he holds it a little too close. Then there's the ab-libs and runs he threw in there.

Charlie is a pure vocalist. He is probably one of the most underrated R&B vocalists in the business.

He's got a lot of leeches syphoning off his talents.

Good post. I just watched the Charlie tribute. He was good. I didn't care for Jamie Foxx at all. I like him much better as a comedian. I tuned out Justin the minute he started singing. He does nothing for me. I'm happy Charlie is still getting recognition after all these years albeit as a solo artist. It's amazing that just 10 years ago he was touring with the United We Funk all stars and these new legion of fans didn't know or care who he was.

No disrespect to Charlie Wilson but Parliament Funakdelic is long overdue for the Lifetime Achievement Award. I dig Charlie's music but as a live performer, his performances put me to sleep.

i was thinkin the same thing. seems lyke they've just about honored everybody from the old skool but Bootsy+George and that'z a damn shame,..especially since a lot of the OG lineup isnt around anymore and many other are passin on...

Yep. And the award he won was not even a legit one (none of them are to me but still) They did kiss his butt less this year compared to past BET award shows, he was pretty much an after thought until he won that award. Maybe that was another reason I was able to tolerate it this year lol .

And good! after seeing him in person i mean.. i am 6'5 so to me he is incredibly short but i like my men short anyways so i am biased smile
