Marsha Ambrosius is dealing with a lot of emotions these days. On Tuesday, the singer took to her Twitter account to announce the release of a new song called "Sky."
The release serves as a tribute of sorts to people she recently lost.
In posting video of the song to her YouTube page, Marsha explained that she heard the song in a dream and created the video by attaching the song to footage of clouds passing by which she shot on her iPhone from an airplane window. "Felt only right to put the two together as I reflected on the lives lost these past couple of weeks. Jimme Wall Street, Lil Snupe, Aunty," she wrote.
Less than a week ago, rapper Jimme Wallstreet was shot and killed in Philadelphia while Lil Snupe, the 18-year-old rapper signed by Meek Mill's Dreamchasers imprint, was also the victim of an apparent homicide. Details remain sparse for both of the fallen emcees.
She concluded, "I can listen to this and remember. I can listen to this and want to forget. I can listen to this and mend a broken heart or feel it break. I made this song to FEEL!"
She also said of the song on Twitter, "I performed this for the 1st time in NYC at The Blue Note. Tears in my eyes but you helped me get through it."
If that isn't enough, the death anniversary of Michael Jackson, with who she previously worked on "Butterflies," prompted her to tweet, "Still doesn't feel real!"
On a much lighter note, the former Floetry member is currently working on her sophomore album, titled Friends & Lovers. Led by her Diplo-produced single, "Cold War," fans can expect the LP to arrive later this year via RCA Music Group.
