LEWIS TAYLOR Simple! any one else missing the man and his music. Witnessed him live at the Royal Albert Hall back in the day, awesome. It is so frustrating when you hear some of the rubbish that is on the radio today. Interviews hve said that he became increasingly frustrated with the music industry and stopped recording. Would love to hear some new stuff!!!!

I could never get into him. His studio-craft was just too polished, overdressed and svelte for my tastes. But I appreciate his musicianship even if his music was urbane.

Much if not most of his music is available on iTunes now. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I was introduced to Lewis Taylor's music at a time that I was looking for exactly what he was providing. "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

LT was a craftsman, but had dimensions and depth to his sound. I really wonder where his sound would be had he stayed in the industry. But he made some really good music. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Why isn't his music on youtube, though? Does he yank it down as soon as someone puts it up? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Ohh lawrd...wth is that? It sounds nothing like Taylor. That's the thing about Lewis Taylor. His influences are so vast and deep. He went all the way to the other side when he recorded this cover disc. It would be cool to see Prince do something with zero commercial potential. Something would've made Zappa say damn! One of my all-time favourite artists. Just yesterday I got two CDs of his music in the mail, The US version of the album Stoned and the Lucky single with three non-album B-sides. "Life's an elevator, it goes up and down. Life's an elevator can't you dig the sound?" -Marc Bolan

I always loved the fact that you couldn't pigeonhole Lewis. Even when I saw him live, he did his tunes, as well as covers of Funkadelic, The Edgar Winter Group, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Todd Rundgren...You're liable to hear anything on an LT album---Funk, Prog-Rock, Psychedelic, Blues, Pop and Soul...sometimes, all on the same song (LOL!!!).....

At the Bowery Ballroom in NYC , Jan 26, 2006. (no Pics of my own, but here's one from the gig, below) ...
... At the time , it was supposed to be the first of a handful of live appearances celebrating the US release of his "Stoned" album...it was wall to wall people--Rockers, Funkateers , Hip-Hop intelligentsia, and artists like Moby and Eric Roberson milling through the crowd...he did a great show, and he appeared on Conan O'Brien a few days later...but then that was it. The rest of the concerts got cancelled, and pretty soon, word went around that he was retiring from the music business.....

Too bad he quit cuz LT was one of the few artists out there that I thought was about as brilliant as Prince was back in the day. "The Lost Album" is a real treat for anyone who hasn't heard it. Kind of Beach Boys influenced soul-rock. Just fucking brilliant stuff.
If he'd been a better looking guy or a better singer, I wonder if he'd had more success, but then again, his music was so challenging to the listener, it almost doesn't matter.

You definitely lucked out on that one. "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I agree with you re his looks, but Lewis is one of the best singers ever. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I know!!! I had also bought tickets for a handful of us to see him again in Philly, at World Cafe Live....shame, we would've had great seats, too, right over the stage....
