Michelle Shocked & Prince Growing up as a teenager, first getting into music, the first two artists I really got into were Michelle Shocked & Prince. They were the first two artists I ever saw live (a few days apart in Berlin).
Since then, it's been fascinating to see them both have battles with their respective record companies regaring the ownership of masters. The big difference being, that Michelle won and Prince hasn't (yet). As Michelle's website puts it: The question is not: "How come the only artist who owns their entire major label catalog is Michelle Shocked?" The real question is: "How can Michelle Shocked be the only one?" I have no idea how she managed it, but it gives me hope that one day Prince will manage it too. Any other Michelle Shocked fans out there who've felt the same? ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I went to one of her shows last year, it was great!
She did one song where she called out now, who can play this or that instrument and let them come up on stage and play a song with her! Then for the nest song she let a guy who played the mandolin really well play for another song! It would be beautiful if prince did something like that! I bet that there would be people in the audience who could keep up! | |
