Just finished listening to Yeezus by Kanye... 2 outta 5 stars... It's highly experimental for a Rapper to come out with this type of sound... I found it kind of NIN but not really in a good way... Blood on the Leaves is the most solid effort IMO... just really glad I didn't pay for it, thanks YouTube Full Album section!

I normally love Kanye but I don't really like this record. I get that it's experimental and all - well, at least that's what everyone seems to be saying - but I just can't seem to enjoy it. Last week Beady Eye released their second record (not as highly acclaimed as Yeezus) and I much prefer that. Can't see myself listening to Yeezus again - even it give it a chance to grow.

New Slaves, On Sight and Black Skinhead had me all kinds of excited when I first heard it. Stopped and praised Yeezus' name to everyone who could hear in my domicile. lol I Am A God brought me down a bit and the rest was all somewhat underwhelming that time. It's been on ad nauseum cuz there ain't nothing else I'm really checking for new at the moment except for same-old Kendrick tunes ("Money Trees is the perfect place for shade... ya bish" dancing jig smoker). I dig it now. Enough. He's lost it lyrically since MBDTF. He was firing on all cylinders (or whatever I'm tryna say) with that one. The lyrics was some of his best, the music as well. Since then, the music is still dope, but whereas before it was just about every track had a couple noteworthy rhymes. Now he'll throw out one or 2 every so often. Only 1 I could think of from Yeezus right now is "You be ballin' in the D league, I be speakin' 'swaghili'". Corny, sure, but for Yeezy, fuckin' brilliant in it's own way. lol Some other decent ones here and there here. All freaky and disgusting though on many of the tracks. I'm In It especially (where the swaghili line is from). I understand where he's coming from innocent, but damn. Not tryna hear about eating ass double time on a full stomach. lol On Sight can still get it cuz of the beat. Black Skinhead too. Decent lyrics. The samples are a plenty. The gospel (I guess) song used on On Sight is my new side jam. cool And the sample on coda of New Slaves makes up for the repetitive words. Hold My Liquor is a jam on standby. Blood on the Leaves is nice and makes me wanna give 808s a proper runthrough. Guilt Trip is a waste. Send it Up is prolly the dopest beat and the lyrics are decent. Hook makes no kinda sense. Kinda whack. Bound 2 rounds out the album on a joyous vibe. Takin' back to simpler times, musically. "Jerome's in the house, watch your mouth..." dancing jig My review could'a used paragraphs and spaces and shit, but fuck it. typing

3 and a half of 5 stars from me. flip u

For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Ignorant lyrics and grammar. I can't believe his mother was a college professor. She taught him nothing!

"Sophisticated ignorance: write my curses in cursive"

I think he is purposely dumbing down and using slang for style/commercial reasons.

can't get into this record at all

experimental must have been fun for him, but it puts the focus on the lyrics and his lyrics are cheesy

tons of bad reviews flooding the internet already

http://www.huffingtonpost...80255.html

in my opinion, he should just get back to creative sampling like he has done before

Too many on this site is infected by the so called virus "real music by real musicians" believing that for something to be real, it has to be live music with an actual drum set as well as no samples, just musicians that can handle live instrumentation. Prince got his unique sound by not narrowing his mindset to purism, but rather seeking new sound and combine it with old treasures of inspiration and sometimes almost duplication of old classic styles. Stealing from the masters has been done forever. Sampling was nothing new when people started doing it. It just had different names when people were sampling with their memory and duplication skill on their instruments. One might also argue that sampling is lazy. I think it just give the artists a different creative perspective that in many ways can lead to something entirely different. We need all types of music! Kanye is a lot like Prince when it comes to influencing new acts and always changing his sound without loosing his signature style.

First off if you are not a fan then... go to another thread and let the actual fans talk about the album lol

Track By Track review

1. On Sight- A weird way to start the album... hardcore electronic song with some cool changes but it was way to short. 3.5/5

2. Black Skinhead- The live version was a lot more aggresive and i liked the screams this version was a lot more tame confused But the lyrics are good and i can understand them a lot better in this version not as good as the live version but i really like it. 5/5
3. I Am A God- I Am A God- This song really bumps! has those industrial synths and screams sounds like a mix between a Marilyn Manson song and Kid A era Radiohead electronica. 5/5

4. New Slaves- Great lyrics and production! one of his deepest songs and best produced the beat is fantastic 5/5

5. Hold My Liquor- Pretty good bass on this one! track is a grower had to listen to it a few times before i dug it and i HATE Chief Keef but he was alright on the track. 4.5/5

6. I'm In It- This song is alright the lyrics are meh... the song sounds dark and had has an 808's feel it pumps but a little weaker than the other tacks 4/5

7. Blood On The Leaves- YES!!! One of the best songs Kanye has ever done! the lyrics are great, the sample of Billie Holidays Strange Fruit was fantastic and the breakdown was EVERYTHING. 5/5

8. Guilt Trip- As suspected this is like Blame Game pt.2 he even uses some of the voice tempo changing he did in Blame. But i really like the beat and i always love his emotional songs and this one is a great mix of 808 and MBDTF era sound... plus it is catchy as hell! But Kid Cudi please PLEASE stop singing... PLEASE 4.5/5

9. Send It Up- Had to listen to this a few times cause it sounded kind of unfinished but it for real sounds like an elector noise rock hybrid so i kind of dig that. But the King-l rap is meh 4/5

10. Bound 2- This is definitely a tribute to The College Dropout era and has that sped up soul sample beat that Kanye used to do a lot. An interesting way to close the album and i really dug it cool 5/5

I think in the end it is a good but flawed album that i will have to listen to a few times and maybe let some tracks grow on me. I admire he made a punk-rap album and it continued his experimental sounds! it was a good end to the trilogy of album from 808's to now.

Prince seems like someone who would be concerned if people are blasphemous, for they just might be going to hell.

No, but they believe in Gehenna, which goes for the same, being even sometimes translated as hell. The iconography may be different, but Gehenna is the space for the "damned" as well. Also, they believe that a very limited number of people (exactly 144 thousand - and only JW's of course) will go to heaven. So there's really no saying that this religion is any less idiot than super idiot.
