New Funkadelic featuring Sly Stone - The Nazz

http://www.youtube.com/wa...bPLMpgRc-o

This is the new Funkadelic track available on iTunes.

Yea or nay?

Personally, I think Sly had/ has the funkiest singing voice alive. Here he is speaking, doing his old DJ thang like he started out in the '60s.

Not sure what to make of it so far. Seems to be Dwayne McKnight doing all the instruments and Dr Funkenstein producing, with Sly doing a separately (but recently) recorded rap over the music. Could fit ok on a diverse but funky album tho. smile

er

Sorry guys, but a funky groove is not enough. George and Sly are also good writers, but I don't hear that here. But it's always fun to have those 2 together.

It actually sounds like Funkadelic. Who would have thought?

Yeah, not much of a song, but let's see what else they can offer. Old P-Funk records had similar seque / intro stuff on them too.

For those unfamiliar with Lord Buckley (or those genuinely interested in where things come from)...

...his original routine, "The Nazz".

The last part of "The Nazz" uses a riff off of the Riot Goin On lp. Theres a cut called "Space Cowboy" and it has the same vamp at the end that The Nazz has. Sly definately put his 2 cents in the mix!
