Never bought it, but this (1990 or 91) was the first time I saw him live with Fred Wesley and Pee Wee Ellis. And a band of just guitar-organ-drums. Not even a bass! And it was sooooo good. As he said, live they play 2% jazz and 98% funky stuff!
Later Maceo became more of a show man with a bigger band and playing less sax. But this early concert will always be in my memory as one of the best I ever saw, stripped down, just playing the music with no gimmicks.
