this is a rare instance where the remake surpassed the authencity of the original
I remember when I heard AVant and Ketara, I was in my ride, and when that song finished playing..
I gave them all the props in the world

. UNDERRATED. I vote for the original all the way. From the string intro to the lyrics, this is old school at it's finest. The original laid the foundation for the remake which is nothing but a carbon copy. The only thing I really see different are the ab-libs they do after the second verse and bridge.Rene' and Angela. Angela's voice is so soulful. | |

Few know that "My First Love' was written originally for the beautiful talented Janet Jackson for her first self titled album. But she didn't like it & turned it down.
I think both versions are equally good. The Avant/KeKe remake which I hear all the time on my Iphone 5 Pandora app. Stands up perfectly to the original. Which is hard to do with a classic soul ballad.
Even though Rene & Angela were real down low lovers...Which she refuses to admit because he Ike Turnered her. [Edited 6/12/13 15:06pm]  will ALWAYS think of  like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. | |
