feeling really musically alienated again...

I know this topic comes up every 2 days, people my age stink sometimes!

I go to a club where the first song playing was Shalamar and then a bunch of 70's and 80's funk, and other than MJ, people I knew weren't feeling it (though I love when he comes on, I get irritated people don't appreciate other funk/r&b music that I sometimes play more). Once the r&b, hip hop and reggae came on, they were saying the night got better, and my music snob side emerged (I like it too but turn into a female vainandy if they think it's better!) But they took it to mean I know a lot about music and for most of the night, they were feeling my moves when I let it out with songs like Get Lucky, and hated how when they played older songs again, they chopped them in half.

My coworkers have awesome taste though, some of them in older music and they were shocked I have similar taste cause I didn't know they did too, but I'm still very shy with them though it's been years.

Since this thread is about music, please post some awesome r&b/funk, old and new here. Chic is greatly welcomed smile

Yeah I was raised on a lot of it too as a kid if not all and I'm in my early 30's, which is why I have a great appreciation for it. I'm also feeling antisocial again in general, and every time I try to get out of my shell, I just regret it even if people are nice. Some people were into it too I found which was nice, but I wanted to hear more lol

I remember going to a Halloween party a couple of years ago and the night started out with all of my favourite classic Funk/R&B hits. I had the best damn time until halfway through the night the music turned to some soulless, nameless Dubstep & Drum N Bass combo, by which the whole party got really loud and rowdy and it became obvious that everyone else was having a much better time with that stuff instead.

Yep, that's when I shrunk back into the corner, all baffled as to what happened. Although it was explained a bit later when I realised everyone else was coked off their faces. I guess you need drugs to enjoy music without a beat/tune/discernible vocals.
