Hell, the "guru" she mentions in the song could just as well be about something she is going through. I would be happy if by that guru she meant those fucked up preachers... But I doubt she would come to realize how bad they are at this moment. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

But don't you think there are others that keep it a secret?! I agree with this but how does this make her homophobic? Does that mean we should say she stole a million dollars too?

That was a mistake in the lyrics and i read this messy lyrics and saw he is talking about gurus or some crap but as hardcore as she is into religion I wouldn't be surprised if she was homophobic. There are a lot of people feeling sick over this new gay-friendly society, and eventually those feelings will have to be worked out, because time never goes backwards. You can't write everyone off, because they need time to adjust and people change. A Tribe Called Quest even recorded a "homophobic" rap in 1990/1 but I doubt they would be feeling the same today. Grand Puba might feel the same, haha.

There have been indicators with regards to some lyrics in the past. I remember really digging Ms. Hill and I even dug the second album even though it got no love at the time.
But in the lyrics for Adam Lives in theory:
Eve was so naive, blinded by the pride and greed
I don't want it to seem that this quotation is it to be isolated out of context. Within the context of the song, the women's actions and the eventual impact of the actions are shown in a negative light.
Would it really surprise me if Hill was "homophobic""?

I feel you. It's cool to know that a huge influence on Prince's music, especially songs which are considered hits, were directly influenced or worked on by Wendy & Lisa. As you can probably guess by my username: I'm a fan. "I mean I always figured you were a trip at times, but now I'm beginning to believe you're a freaking vacation." -2elijah

I thought a lot of her bliefs were connected to Rastafarianism, which doesn't agree with homosexuality(?)

She is a rasta (but there are differnet types of rastas and that doesnt necessarily mean she is homophobic). Regardless whether she is or not, there are no references to anti homosexuality in the song.

I felt sorry for after her 'husband' 'fiance'? left her, and she cut her dreads off. The last I remember seeing her was on MTV unplugged playing guitar and crying
She's always had that look that could go male or female ...
I hope she isn't a homophobe, because she has the potential to get some important words out there
The lyrics in the song don't convey homophobia to me I don't understand the part about the drag queens though

There isn't much context to it.

Although homosexuality may not be directly be explictely criticized, areas in which there might be overlap which seem criticized. "I mean I always figured you were a trip at times, but now I'm beginning to believe you're a freaking vacation." -2elijah

It's in an earlier response: page 1 or 2. Typing this was much quicker than cutting and pasting. "I mean I always figured you were a trip at times, but now I'm beginning to believe you're a freaking vacation." -2elijah

Lauryn Hill to Leave New Jersey Mansion Before heading to PrisonStop The Presses! – 2 hours 59 minutes ago
by Jon Wiederhorn (Photo: Dave Kotinsky)Unless some sort of miracle mitigates her current woes with the IRS, R&B singer Lauryn Hill will be heading to prison for tax evasion by July 8. As frightening and upsetting as that is, at least she won’t have to worry any more about the ugly dispute she was in with the landlords of her New Jersey mansion. Last month, the landlords filed an eviction lawsuit against her for failing to pay her March rent. TMZ reported that she settled with them to pay $7,000 in rent and leave the property by May 31. At press time, it was unknown whether she had vacated the property. Hill, 37, plead guilty last year to three counts of tax evasion for not filing tax returns for almost $1.8 million of income between 2005 and 2007. On May 6 a judge in Newark, New Jersey sentenced her to three months of house arrest and another nine under supervised release. Before Hill was sentenced, her attorney announced to the press that the singer had paid more than $970,000 of the money she owed the government, and asked the judge to be lenient. During the hearing Hill made a statement, comparing her predicament to slavery, which probably didn’t help her case.
