Bad Rabbits

These guys are up and coming. Their first few releases are pretty decent.

Word on the the net is Teddy Riley produced on their soon to be released album!

Check out the track below. I kind of think the band has a sound that overlaps a bit with the MPLS sound.

Oh, and for those thae like MJ up in here, I think they do a decent cover of Human Nature. :dodges thrown trash:

I kind of think they'd be similiar to The Time if they were from the mid 80's rather than the mid 2010's. They are pretty grooving.

The studio cuts are overproduced in a way that makes the songwriting and the performances of the musicians seem redundant. It's obvious the band members have talent, but that type of a "power chorus" approach just cheapens the overall impression.

Thanks for bringing this band to our attention in any case.

Yeah. I guess I don't relate to the idea of "cheapens" unless by that you mean "is accessible" or "pop" as I'm not sure that creating a hook inherently devalues artistry. But then again, I'm probably the most anti-snobbery person you're going to find on here (who doesn't resort to dick riding P's every release ever), so I typically would never refer to another's artistic efforts as cheap. But that's me.

But thanks for the feedback. I'm pretty sure there is a cross-section here who could appreciate this type of music.

Sorry for the negative feedback as you obviously wanted to create some positive buzz for the band.

I used the word "cheapen" metaphorically. Of course, those studio takes sound professionally done and I assume quite a lot of money has gone into them.

Based on the few cuts I listened to from this band I just think they're a good example of a group that gets a lot of positive feedback from others when starting out and then go overboard with their recordings when it's time to do the first recordings. For that matter, I don't think there is a real "hook" on "Fall In Love" as it just has a lot of dense sounds layered during the chorus to create an impression that the song is "epic".

I'm cool with any type of feedback. People can be as critical as I'd like. I can explain my perspective and my views of artistry. And you can discuss negative feedback. That's all you baby boy. Do you.

If the chorus doesn't hook you, that's fine. Just like "cheapens" is a term you might use, "hook" is also a term. Right? Dig.

I think if some of the sentiment behind what your saying indicates maybe a desire for more subtle dynamic play, then I can agree that I'd like to hear more of that on the actual full length. I love orchestral music and I enjoy listening to rock bands that do this sort of dynamic play with a soft hand.

But I also come from a more punk background. As such, I can appreciate a more direct and less polished veneer. Yet even more, I can also dig desnse layered production. Hell, a lot of my favorite prince cuts do this.

I don't know if the goal in this specific track was to create an "epic" feel, but if it was, I don't have a problem with that. I can imagine it'd sound great as a sing along in concert.

But I dig pop. Some people think it's shit. Whatevs.

I saw these guys on Kimmel this past week and I was impressed.

I like their sound. It's got a little 80's throwback keyboard going on.

Oh yeah. Totally. I forgot they were on Kimmel.

I think you saw their aired performance?

Glad you dig the throwback. I knew there'd be some people out there who might dig it on these forums.
