elvis costello hope & anchor 1980 in preparation for the rock and roll hall of fame induction, i've pulled out a few items to listen to. today is elvis costello and "most" of the attractions live at the hope and anchor club in scotland 1980.
it was a king biscuit flower hour broadcast way back when. i had one of the original transcription discs on vinyl back in the day. i say "most" of the attractions because steve naive had been injured in an accident and so they got martin belmont from graham parker and the rumor to sit in on guitar, so there were no keyboards. because of this the band had a sort of harder edge. the set list included more cover versions than a typical elvis set of that vintage, probably because it was easier to rehearse martin belmont (my guess) on more known covers than all of elvis' catalog. they did songs like: the other elvis' little sister and the temptations don't look back (absolutely killer) ------------------------------------------------
