Prince fams dissapointed with u.

Good song but u should know where the music came from Put of Marvin Gaye's Got to ive it up.

Same song as this!

Good catch.

Not a good catch. It's been stated it's a Marvin song from the beginning of another thread on the same song. Plus, Robin has been playing homage to Marvin since his first album with the song Cherry Blue Skies.

Robin Thicke Talks Justin Timberlake Comparisons, Relationship Insecurities & Blurred Lines With Hot 97

Robin Thicke With Hot 97 2013

Robin Thicke is finally getting the recognition he deserves with his new hit, “Blurred Lines” which is currently #1 on the pop charts in 40 countries!

This week, he stopped by Hot 97′s Morning Show to chat about the success of the new record, which he says is soulful even though it’s being classified as pop. He also revealed his wife Paula Patton’s reaction to the unrated version of the music video, which features naked girls, and how he was able to get T.I. to do the old man dance throughout the video.

He was also very open as he talked about the arguing and fighting in his marriage, while also revealing that he’s experienced insecurities and that they would never venture into the open relationship territory. When talking about the comparisons to Justin Timberlake, he said that Justin venturing into soul music helped him more than anything.Catch a few of the interesting highlights below:

On Married Life
We have the most emotional [relationship], the biggest fights. Stuff gets broken all the time. That’s what a lot of my last album “Love After War” was about, all the fighting. She’s a very intelligent, passionate person. We’re both A-type personalities so we butt heads all the time. Luckily, we just had a 3-week period where we got to be in Europe and Paris and vacation together that we hadn’t had in years. Right now love is in bloom. We work it out. I think it’s actually listening to the other person once in a while and what they’re saying.

On If Paula Ever Gave Him A Pass In Their Marriage To Hook Up With Someone Else
She didn’t have to. We had some great party years, she knows how to party. She might tease the idea, but I know she doesn’t want that. She may make it seem [like that], but I know she doesn’t want nothing like that.[...]She’s got to star with all these good looking men in the movies and powerful actors and stuff, so I don’t want to open that door to making any of that okay.

She’s the same with everybody. She’s always very happy, very light, very friendly, but she always makes sure it’s a respectful relationship. I used to be really jealous about that stuff, but as the years go by you know who your person is and you know how they come home to you. [We've been together] about 20 years. We were 14 when we met. One of the deeper songs, one of my favorite songs on the album is called “For the Rest of My Life,” and it’s about how her and I fell in love when we were teenagers. It’s really nice like a wedding song.

On If He Searches For Problems In His Relationship
I think that’s what happens when you’re an artist, you kind of search for a problem so you can have something meaningful to write about because otherwise all you’re going to talk about is popping bottles and shaking a$$. If you want to write about something meaningful that connects to other people’s tough lives too, then you have to dig deep. I think at a certain point, I was digging and I was only finding falsehoods and I realized I really do have the woman of my dreams, I have a healthy baby, I’m making some money now so why shouldn’t I enjoy this ride.

On Paula Approving Naked Chicks for “Blurred Lines” Video & T.I.’s Old Man Dances
If you’ve seen my wife’s breasts you would realize she has nothing to be jealous about. They’re pretty amazing. She’s an artist first. It would be one thing if she was just a homemaker, that would be tough, but she’s an artist. She said, “That sounds like a great idea!” She started going through magazines and coming up with images and then when she saw the video, she wanted to watch it ten times in a row and then she went and put on her new lingerie. It made her a little jealous, it turned her on. It was a wonderful evening.

Tiny was on set, actually. I was hanging out with Tiny. When Pharrell and I were in the studio recoding this song, we were doing old man dances, old man at a barbeque dances. That’s kind of where that song was coming from. It was that fun vibe. So for the video, T.I. showed up and I said, “Can you do a few old man dances?” and he jumped right into it and started doing Red Foxx.

On Justin Timberlake
He actually helped me a lot because his sound went more R&B or more soulful, and that’s what I’ve been doing my whole career so that really opened up a door.[...]The thing is, he and I grew up with the same influences. That Michael Jackson [and] Prince era, a lot of Marvin Gaye, and we’re both white kids who grew up in the Hip Hop generation. So, I think it’s natural that we’re going to have some similarities.

On Why People See “Blurred Lines” as Pop & Not Soul
I think it’s because it’s so happy. Rarely do you hear soul records that are major chords. But, what I think it great about the record is that white people can dance to it because it’s just one-two-one-two.

This is the least personal record I’ve ever made. I’ve almost always tried to be all serious brooding artists and dig deep and talk about my pain and insecurities and stuff. This time I didn’t want there to be any of that negativity. There’s still some depth on it but it’s much more fun.

Watch Robin with Hot 97 below:

I am happy for Robin! Very good interview. I Been following his career since before anyone knew who he was. He is a gifted artist and very soulful. Glad he finally has a big cross over hit. He is right his wife is extremely friendly & can be mistaken for flirtatious.

Glad he feels no rivalry toward Justin...

Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' Hits No. 1 on Hot 100

By Gary Trust, New York | June 12, 2013

Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' Hits No. 1 on Hot 100

The song, featuring T.I. and Pharrell, zips 6-1 to become Thicke's first Hot 100 No. 1.

Robin Thicke scores his first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, as "Blurred Lines," featuring T.I. and Pharrell, vaults 6-1. Ariana Grande and Mac Miller, meanwhile, return to the top 10 each with "The Way" and Miley Cyrus enters at No. 11 with "We Can't Stop."

"Lines" leaps to the Hot 100's top spot as the chart's top Digital, Airplay and Streaming Gainer. The song is the first to claim all three honors simultaneously since the lattermost award was introduced in March last year. The funky track spends a second week at No. 1 on Digital Songs, gaining by 38% to 315,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and reaches the top 10 on Radio Songs and Streaming Songs: it vaults 17-8 on the former chart (73 million all-format audience impressions, up 50%) and 24-8 on the latter (3.5 million U.S. streams, up 66%), according to Nielsen BDS.

With its latest frame, "Lines" passes 1 million downloads sold, marking Thicke's first song to reach the milestone. His No. 14 Hot 100 hit from 2007, "Lost Without U," has sold 946,000.

While Thicke celebrates his first Hot 100 topper. T.I. collects his fourth, and first since "Live Your Life," featuring Rihanna, in 2008. Pharrell claims his third; he previously reigned, also as a featured act, on Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot" (three weeks, 2004) and Ludacris' "Money Maker" (two, 2006).

The 6-1 Hot 100 lift for "Lines" is the greatest positional increases to the apex from within the top 10 since Usher's "OMG," featuring will.i.am, made the same ascent more than three years ago.

"Lines" rises 2-1 to become Thicke's third No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, following "Lost" (11 weeks, 2007) and "Sex Therapy" (two, 2010). It's T.I.'s fourth (and first since 2008's "Whatever You Like") and Pharrell's fourth (and first since "Money") on the genre tally. "Lines" racks a fourth week atop the recently launched R&B Songs chart.

"Lines" takes over atop the Hot 100 with a whopping 44% jump in overall chart points, displacing Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Can't Hold Us," featuring Ray Dalton (1-2; down 4%), after a five-week command. Still, "Hold" continues to gain in airplay, bulleting at No. 2 on Radio Songs (134 million, up 2%) for a second week. "Hold" drops 1-2 after seven weeks in charge of Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs but logs an eighth week atop Rap Songs.

Pharrell enjoys his first set of concurrent Hot 100 top five hits, as Daft Punk's "Get Lucky," billed as featuring Pharrell Williams, remains at No. 3. The track rings up a third week at No. 1 on the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart (2.4 million, up 10%) and pushes 8-6 on Radio Songs (80 million, up 25%). It holds at No. 2 on Streaming Songs (5.4 million, down 3%) and No. 4 on Digital Songs (193,000, up 1%). As with Thicke's "Lines," "Lucky" passes 1 million in digital sales. With 1,030,000 sold, it's likely, by next week, to pass the pair's 2001 dance hit "One More Time" (1,047,000) as its best-selling download to date. "Lucky," meanwhile, crowns the Dance/Electronic Songs chart for a fourth week.

Wow! I know the champaign is popping in that party household.

I loooove it! I just read the Wikipedia too. What a shame it's being compared to Justin and Madonna when it's obviously full of Marvin, mj, and prince. Same with get Lucky, I know it's on daft punks album but they did so little on the track.

There's something about his image that doesn't click with his sound. He sings about sexuality and dances in videos with half naked women and it's just not convincing.

Agreed. He looks really dumb. I watched all his single's videos these days to know him, it all just seemed bad forced rnb gone wrong. But somewhat I like this Blurred Lines. But because of the rhythms, the arrangement, the production, and Pharrell. Wished Pharrell had sing it instead.

Depends on your definition of a hit is. Sexy Therapy was #1 on the RnB chart. It was an airplay hit on the RnB radio stations for a few months. It didn't sell well, but people listened to it alot. You also had Sweetest Love which was played alot on RnB radio.

He made some terrible single choices in his last few albums since Evolution. He had some meaningful songs and BOTH times on his last two albums chose to go with the Hip Hop style beat and guest rappers. I understand why, but it was the wrong follow up to great songs in Sex Therapy and Love After War.

That comment was a direct response to the question of Robin's last Top 40 hit, which was indeed "Lost Without U."

he's a million times better than timberfake.

He has a better voice, and doesn't have any crappy nasally sound and whiny falsetto like timberfake.

He sounds natural and is a better songwriter than any of timberfake and co.

Timberfakes 20 20 album is garbage.

At least Robin Thicke is still bringing good R&B music and none of the timberland 90s beats that Timberfake is still using.

Timberfake is a joke, while Thicke is the real deal.

One note from Thicke makes the panties drop, while one look at Timberfake makes people throw up.

Timberfake is one UGLY dude compared to Thicke.

At least Thicke, even with his pedo moustache is a much better looking, and sophisticated artist compared with timberfake.

Robin Thicke has better stage presence, better voice and just all round better at everything than Mickey Mouse black wannabe Timberfake.

Timberfake is a joke because if you look at his history.

1. he was on mickey mouse club and was a clear white boy who probably never listened to any R&B or black artists in his entire life.

2. he joined a shitty boy band manufactured by some Pedo named Lou, and proceeded to have one of the queerest haircuts known to mankind, and gave us some really shitty music we didn't need.

3. he then tried to be black by bumming Timberland and Pharrell, but failed miserably. Not to mention, that fucking godawful mcdonalds track which irritated me like no other fucking song. fucking atrocious.

4. when he failed at music, he went to try acting, and has shown no talent whatsoever, and no acting charisma whatsoever. He has the personality of a wet dildo and the prescence of one of marlon brando's turds.

5. now he goes back to music and thinks he's some sort of "serious" legend or something because he didn't release a cd for 6 years. motherfucker, you ain't a legend, and never will be, you were a "NEVER WAS" lol. suit and tie, what kind of garbage is that??

and still having those shitty timbaland mouth beats in 2013?? what the fuck are these people on?

fucking garbage.

Thicke Rules over his sorry ass.

This is one of the greatest posts I have ever seen.
