Shirley cuz Kelly leaves out a whole verse.

Shirley. I love Kelly, but I think she played it too straight with the remake. If you gonna do a remake- make it your own. Freak it like Luther. Make us forget the original version.

I never did understand why Kelly's remake was the first single from the "Mirror Mirror" album. I haven't listen to that album in a while- but I think the album version does have all the verses. The single version was edited.

She didnt. Thats the radio/video edit where they cut the middle of the song to shorten it.... She sang the whole song.

I like both, but I like Kelly's a bit more.

If anyone likes Kelly's version over Shirley's; I will have to question your musical ear. Kelly is a great singer and songwriter, but she shouldn't have touched this classic.

The title of this thread should have been "What do you think about Shirley & Kelly's versions?"....There is no such thing as "Shirley OR Kelly?"....That's like Chaka & Mary's versions of "Sweet thing"...It's CRIMINAL to even ask which version do you like more....LOL...

And one more thing about Shirley..She can still BLOW and perhaps even more Powerfully than on that 80's classic. She's on TD Jakes CD's and she sings out of this world....The Ministry has kept her Focused, Strong and Paid...There are MANY paths a Singer can take with their Gift they just need to trust in a Higher Power and set Goals...

My vote goes to Shirley. Roger Troutman's production just works to the point that this classic slow jam is untouchable.
