Weird enough this. I think I bought it at Crazy Eddies, which went bankrupt a couple of years later. I think the last song was taken off due to limited space back then: [Edited 5/24/13 7:07am] Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

Sadly, it was Def Leppard's "Hysteria." Ugh! No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Grafitti Bridge. I had the cassette when it came out but it was my first CD when I finally got a CD player. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

DAS HOT I do recall the days of very terrible compilation cover art, especially from Motown.

The Symbol album by Prince & the NPG was the first one I bought myself. I had gotten a few CDs before that as a gift (Madonna's "Bedtime Stories" might have been the first one I've "owned").

It was this:
But these are the first ones that I bought (at the same time) that was a new release. I still have all 3 of them. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Copped this Christmas of 1989, when I got my very first CD walkman. You couldn't tell me NOTHING! (LOL) And I still have my original copy to this very day!

New?
The Hits/The B-Sides.
I hadn't actually bought a CD player yet, but I knew I would eventually, and I couldn't bring myself to buy that on cassette, which is how I'd been buying most new stuff for years (I had a cassette player. My only turntable stayed at home when I went to college and moved into a dorm. I'd buy used vinyl and tape it on someone else's equipment).
I had also picked up a used Purple Rain for a couple of bucks and a copy of The Rutles' album. But The Hits/The B-Sides was the first new thing I bought.

That was, I believe, my first cassette--also in 7th grade, but in 1983.

Shoot... I could picture the cover, but I couldn't remember what it was. After some thought and some internet poking I figured it out. I bought it with a Warehouse gift certificate that came with my first cd player, both of which were gifted to me on my 20th birthday in 1992 (I think - could have been my 21st).
